Open Call for Emerging Creators

Evergreen Cultural Centre (ECC) invites emerging creators ages 18-30 to submit their application for the Evergreen Emerging Creators Committee (EECC). We invite applications in a variety of formats, details on how to apply are below.

We believe that in order to represent the youth of our communities, we need as many voices as possible to be part of our committee. We welcome and will prioritize applications from members of racialized communities, BIPOC, persons with disabilities, persons of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions (LGBTQ2S+), as well as any and all of those intersections. Who is an Emerging Creator?

An emerging creator is defined as an artist who works in any discipline within the visual and performing arts. They are between the ages of 18-30, in the early stages of their professional career, and are committed to the development of their craft and practice.

Evergreen Emerging Creators Committee centers around a multidisciplinary approach to the arts and will prioritize local emerging artists from the Tri-Cities area who engage in different mediums. Applications are also open to emerging creators from across the Vancouver Lower Mainland who are interested in engaging with the ECC. This includes performing, visual, and multidisciplinary artists, writers and poets, curators and administrators, agents and managers, marketers and/or technicians, and anyone working in the Performing and Visual Arts Sector locally.

The Committee

We are inviting a group of six multidisciplinary emerging creators to be part of our new Evergreen Emerging Creators Committee. Participation in the committee will include:
- Developing, coordinating and executing one event that will be part of the Evergreen's Performing Arts 2022 Season.
- Attending free events (both virtual and in-person) with a focus on career advancement, developing artistic networks, artist talks and workshops.
- Desining an Emerging Creators Directory with up-to-date information from artists in the province.
- Attending monthly Committee meetings.
Important Dates

The time and place for all monthly meetings will be determined between the group, with the expectation that members will do their best to attend all meetings. The approximate timeline of the project is November 1, 2021 to May, 31st 2021.

Health Guidelines

Given the evolving conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, most Committee meetings will occur virtually, with hopes that the EECC-led event will be held in-person at Evergreen Cultural Centre.
