  • Torchbearer Pathfinder COVID Prevention Policy

  • Walla Walla University Torchbearer Pathfinders are committed first and foremost to the physical safety of our members.  As "servants of God" and "friend[s] to man" who have promised to "care for our bodies", we are committed to safeguarding the health of both ourselves and each other.   Torchbearer Pathfinders are comitted to comply with:

    1. All state and federal guidelines and directives.
    2. Directives from our county Health Department or other local health authorities.
    3. Policies of the Upper Columbia Conference of whom our church and club are members.
    4. Health policies of our sponsoring organization, the Walla Walla University Church.

Additionally, we may enact club policies related to COVID risk reduction.  At this time, this means that:

    1.  We will seek to do activities outdoors rather than indoors when the activity and logistics permit.  As Pathfinders, we love being outdoors in God's creation.

    2.  All indoor activities will require mask and social distancing of at least 3 feet.

    3.  When outdoors, Pathfinders and Staff will wear masks when outdoor activites do not allow for social distancing.

    4.  When camping, individual Pathfinder Units will be treated as pods and permitted to go unmasked when inside tents with other unit members.

    5.  Alternative tenting arrangements may be provided including the use of large outdoor tents with one or more sides removed for ventilation.

    6.  Tent ventiallation will be left open when weather permits.

These Covid policies are subject to change at any time due as new information and guidance emerges.

Thank you for both your patience and flexibility.

  • Uniform Rental Agreement

Required to be signed by the applicant's parent or guardian
  • The Pathfinder Dress Uniform consists of Pathfinder shirt and accessories (necessary patches, belt/buckle, scarf, and slide), black pants or skirt, black socks, and dress shoes.  The Pathfinder dress shirt and its accessories can be rented from the club for $35/year (included in the yearly registration fees).  Upon completion of the Pathfinder year in May, we ask that each Pathfinder returns the complete uniform shirt in excellent condition.

Using the rental system eliminates the need for the Pathfinder to buy new uniforms as they grow.  The dress shirt, complete with all necessary patches, belt/buckle and scarf cost a little more than $50 depending on size, and takes some time to sew on the appopriate patches.

If a staff member or pathfinder prefers, they may buy their own uniform and patches directy from https://adventsource.com and we will supply the Conference and Club patches for $10-$15.  This makes the most sense if the Pathfinder is done growing and would like a new uniform to keep.

Either way, the Pathfinder is responsible for providing black pants or skirt, black dress shoes, and black socks.
