Misfit Adoption Pre-Application

A misfit is a dog that has suffered past abuse causing trust issues. A Misfit has either already bitten, or could easily be pushed into a bite if not understood. H.A.L.O. trainers work hard each day to provide Misfits an environment to move past their fears and thrive, but leaving the shelter and entering a new home can cause a rush of fears to come back and new triggers to arise. Misfits do not want to live in a shelter, but do need the right home to be successful. To meet a Misfit a Pre-Application must be approved ahead of setting up a meet and greet with H.A.L.O. trainers. You also must be willing to meet multiple times until both parties are comfortable taking the next step of going home. Misfits come with a complimentary training session in the home within two weeks after adoption to ensure as a family, any problematic behaviors are caught and brought under control. At HALO we make every effort to prevent the spread of fleas and ticks throughout the shelter. HALO's Pest Arrest treats monthly and rescue's receive regular bathing. However, we CANNOT guarantee that a dog or cat will be free of fleas and/or ticks when leaving this facility. For this reason we offer and strongly recommend purchasing flea control and a bath at time of adoption.
