  • This scholarship was created in 2020 by Wilmer and Patricia Harris with the intention to award $5,000 annually between 2020-2029, as an initiative to assist a graduating Cumberland Valley student. Mr. Harris spent a total of 38 years employed at Cumberland Valley School District, 10 teaching and the last 28 as a School Counselor.

    The scholarship will recognize the Harris' lifelong commitment to education and assisting students to continue to reach for goals regardless of obstacles. The applicant should demonstrate academic success.

  • Scholarship Award:

    • One-time award of $5,000
    • Announced at the annual Senior Awards Ceremony in May
    • Check will be written jointly to the successful student and academic institution, which will be sent to the student requesting endorsement, who will forward the check to the appropriate school/university’s financial aid office for credit to the student’s tuition account 
    • Check must be applied toward tuition at a 4-year college or technical school

    Scholarship Recipient Criteria:

    • Cumberland Valley High School senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Currently employed (part-time and seasonal positions qualify)
    • Demonstrated ambition through employment and/or community involvement
    • Proof of acceptance at a 4-year college/technical school prior to fund distribution
