The mission of the Council of Social Agencies, Inc. (COSA) is to educate and promote to improve communication, collaboration, coordination, and cooperation among member agencies and individuals for the enhancement of health and human services in the community.
LEADERSHIP St. Lucie is a program of the SLC Chamber of Commerce. It began in 1983 to help educate participants to assist them in becoming proactive community leaders. The program includes a series of discussions and site visits developed to expose participants to the greatest challenges, resources, and opportunities facing the St Lucie community today. It is highly competitive!
Knowing that COSA member agencies and indiviual members may have limited funding for participation in the valuable experience, COSA ofers a scholarship that will cover the full tuition of $1,045.
Please be aware that this program requires a significant commitment both from the applicant and their employer.
- Recipient's employer (Agency) must be a member of the SLC Chamber of Commerce prior to the start of the class.
- Agency must agree that recipient will be a representative of the agency AND COSA during their time with Leadership St. Lucie.
This two-year leadership program committment begins in January with a mandatory Orientation and one-day Team Building session. The class then meets once a month for 10 full-day programs. The second year, participants must help to plan the day-long programs sessions for the next class.
The approved COSA scholarship recipient must agree to:
□ Satisfy the leadership program requirements for graduation. (Failure to graduate without reasonable cause could result in the recipient being required to reimburse COSA for the cost.)
□ Attend and report on Leadership class experiences at ALL general COSA meetings during the course of the scholarship year.
Leadership St. Lucie applicants that are sponsored by COSA, must:
□ Have been a member of COSA for at least one year.
□ Have been employed for at least one year by a COSA member agency or as an individual.
□ Have been an actively involved member of COSA for at least one year.
□ Be in a health and human services career field.
□ Submit this fully completed application form that demonstrates how participation in the program will enhance applicant’s work performance and job skills.
□ Upload two letters of reference to this application.
□ Upload the completed Chamber of Commerce Leadership application.
Failure to upload requested documents will result in disqualification of your scholarship application.
