Health & Safety
Dewsnap Equestrian has taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone entering this Equestrian Centre. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey the instructions from all staff and notices displayed. Riding is a High-Risk Sport. All individual riders must have a mobile phone with them and inform someone on the yard when they will be back.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All riders must wear correct riding clothing and footwear when mounted and wearing of hard hats of the minimum standard EN1384, PAS015 & ASTMF1163 at all times when riding is compulsory. High viz and reflective clothing must be worn when hacking out.
General Terms & Conditions
- A disclaimer must be filled in by all people using the facilities at Dewsnap Equestrian before first use.
- All riders must wear BSI approved head and footwear whilst mounted on the premises.
- Please adhere to the rules of the menège especially in shared schooling sessions. Pass left to left, don't overtake and ride transitions off the track.
- Respectful riding and training are requested at all times, we will not tolerate harsh training methods.
- Please report any accident or incident immediately to a member of staff.
- Don't leave horses tied up unattended.
- Clear the car park, tie up areas of droppings and loose hay.
- Dewsnap Equestrian are not responsible for any loss or damage to persons, animals, vehicles or equipment whilst on the premises.
- Please respect the property and leave the premises as clean as possible.
- No smoking in the arena, or around the stable block. There is an official smoking area which the staff on the yard can show you.
Arena Hire Terms & Conditions
- The number of horses permitted to use the arena at one single time is limited to 3.
- In the arena, please pick up after your horse immediately, before droppings get trampled into the surface.
- Please clear the arena of equipment, poles etc after use.
- Please lift, carry and use our jumps with respect, report any breakages to the equestrian staff immediately.
- Clubs/societies/persons hire the premises at their own risk. Clubs and any third parties e.g. caterers, must hold public liability/third party liability insurance which we will ask to see. By riding at the premises, the rider accepts that they/their trainer or responsible adult (if under 18) has checked the facilities and the ground conditions and declared them safe.
- Trainers, coaches, teachers or any person responsible for a rider must hold public liability insurance and any person bringing a groom, rider or paid assistance onto the premises must hold employer's liability insurance.
- All riders must have access to a mobile phone in order to summon assistance in the event of an emergency. Telephone numbers are listed in the office.
- All riders must wear a riding hat conforming to current BHS standard at all times whilst mounted. Suitable footwear must be worn at all times whilst in the menège.
- Users are required to close the gates of all facilities whether entering or exiting the facilities and to obey all signage.
- Riding, working with horses and handling horses can be dangerous and horses may be unpredictable.
- People using the facilities do so at their own risk and Dewsnap Equestrian will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss.
- Riders and their trainers, spectators, helpers must not take any glass or breakable objects onto the facilities. All items taken onto the facilities must be removed at the end of the relevant session.
