Dear US Veteran,
Thank you for your service to the United States of America. This grant from our agency is made possible by our Board of Directors, community supporters, and individual and business donors. It is intended to help you secure stable housing as an act of appreciation for your service.
Please find below a list of items you will be asked to turn in with this completed and signed application. The application begins immediately following this letter.
Again, you MUST upload the requested documents where asked within this application for us to begin assessing your request for a rental deposit grant. Failure to do so means the request is incomplete; we will not assess incomplete applications.
We recommend working with the local VA Housing Division office before submitting this application (Contact: Charles - charles.cobble@va.gov). His office can begin helping you secure a Section 8 voucher (required for our program) and find a stable place to rent (required for our program). Required documentation that MUST be turned in with this application:
- Current form of ID
- Proof of US military service (must show name, branch, and not dishonorably discharged)
- Verification from VA that you are homeless or about to experience homelessness
- An unexpired Section 8 Voucher issued by local housing authority, VA office, or state office
- Letter or tentative lease agreement from landlord showing:
- landlord’s name and contact information
- landlord’s address where they receive payment
- the address of the property you are looking to rent
- your name as the person interested in renting the property
- the amount of the deposit due in order to complete the lease agreement
- Death certificate of veteran spouse, can be noncertified (if applying as a widow)
- Marriage certificate to veteran spouse, can be noncertified (if applying as a widow)
- A widow is legally defined as “a person whose spouse died during their marriage and has not since remarried.”
This is a once-in-a-lifetime grant for US military veterans (or their widowed spouses) only. Those previously assisted are not eligible to be assisted again. Submission of this application does not guarantee approval. Incomplete applications or missing documentation will not be considered for funding.
