What should I expect during my treatment - Your Aesthetician will perform a thorough skin analysis. If Microdermabrasion or Dermaplane is not appropriate, you will be informed and an alternative treatment may be recommended. If Microdermabrasion is for you, maximum results are obtained by participating in a series of treatments plus following a recommended home care regimen.
Your Aesthetician will take every precaution to ensure that your skin is well hydrated and calm prior to leaving each session. However, you may experience excessive dryness or even some peeling in between sessions. More sensitive skin may experience some redness after the first couple sessions. This normally goes away after 2-3 hours. Communicate with your Aesthetician if you have any concerns before/after treatment.
Sunscreen, at least SPF 30, must be worn after your treatment and when outdoors. You are making an investment in your face. For best results, refrain from being outdoors for long periods of time and tanning beds.
The majority of people have satisfactory or above results with a series of treatments. Maximum results are highly dependent on your age, cumulative sun exposure, health and lifestyle, genetic traits, general skin condition and your willingness to follow recommended protocols.
Homecare/Post-Treatment: Intense, vigorous physical activity should be avoided until redness has subsided. Usually 24-48 hours. Avoid direct sunlight exposure immediately following treatment. Cleanse your face with a mild cleanser twice a day, apply SPF in the morning.
I understand that I might not be able to receive the treatment if I have or have had any of the following conditions: Active infection (warts, herpes), active cystic acne, sunburn, recent use of topical agents (glycolic, Retin-A, AHA's), chemical peel, uncontrolled diabetes, eczema, dermatitis, skin cancer, vascular lesions, oral blood thinner medications, rosacea, pregnant, use of Accutane in the last year, telangiectasia/erythema that may be worsened or brought out by skin exfoliation.
I will consult with my Aesthetician immediately if I have any questions about the treatment and/or post-treatment/homecare.
