The Coach must follow the below guidelines.
1) Treat all participants equitably regardless of gender, race, place of origin, color, religion, political beliefs, and socioeconomic status;
2) Share confidential information only with the consent of those involved;
3) Ensure that activities are suitable for the age, experience, ability, and physical conditions of the athletes;
4) Refrain from the use of alcohol, cannabis and tobacco in conjunction with athletic events or while working with athletes;
5) Ensure a suitable, safe setting is provided for athletes at all time;
6) Communicate and cooperate with health practitioners in all athletes' health-related needs;
7) Declare any conflicts of interest to maintain unbiased situations for all;
8) Maintain security of all provincial equipment (if any) utilized by the team;
9) Have conduct in a manner that will be benefiting the Provincial Team, the entire staff, the NLBA and Canada Basketball;
10) Display courtesy, respect and consideration towards other team members, coaches, officials and hosting organizers;
11) Demonstrate a sportsmanlike manner, and show respect and consideration towards the public;
12) Show, courtesy and consideration towards the media;
13) Refrain from statements that adversely reflect upon the NLBA, the Provincial Team Program, other Provincial Team Coaches, staff, team members, officials and organizers;
14) Provide, when possible, a positive mentoring process as outlined in the NLBA Coaches Mentoring Program;
15) Maintain a professional and positive image with the team when representing the NLBA, and the Province;
16) Refrain from doing anything to bring the provincial team, staff members, the NLBA, or Canada Basketball into disrepute;
17) Must attain the required NCCP certification as outlined by Canada Basketball to attend the national club championship;
18) Must adhere to all policies outlined by NLBA;
19) Coaches are expected to be health conscious and incorporate a philosophy of healthy eating into their athletes’ diet during the training and competition season.
20) Coaches may be videotaped, photographed, recorded and / or interviewed during this program. The NLBA promotes involvement in our programs by posting coaches / team photos or videos on its website, on social medial (such as Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook) and / or newsletters, brochures or advertisements or through other promotional opportunities.
- The use of illegal narcotics, illegal prescription and non-prescription drugs as determined by the Government of Canada, shall be strictly prohibited during all NLBA Program activities.
- The NLBA and the Coach shall establish rules and regulations for all NLBA Programs travel, and curfew for all players.
- The Coach will be accountable to the Board of the NLBA.
Any Coach who does not abide by the contract will be liable to penalization including:
a) Withdrawal of support funding and/or;
b) Suspension and/or;
c) Withdrawal of part and/or all Provincial Team privileges and services and/or;
d) Immediate dismissal from the Provincial Team Program.
