Members of our congregation at PSBC have been invited to partner with a church in our
community, Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Mauldin on a very special project aimed
towards racial reconciliation and healing in our community. To accomplish this goal, our two
churches will participate in Be the Bridge (BTB), a series of facilitated conversations between
people, seeking understanding and Christian brotherhood. Ultimately, Be the Bridge aims to
inspire people to have a distinctive and transformative response to racial division and be
present and intentional toward racial reconciliation.
Facilitators from both churches will lead the group study and learning. Our own Deacon Kent
and Deaconess DeeDee Washington will facilitate, representing PSBC. Authentic racial bridge-
building will take place based on this vision: people and organizations are aware and
responding to the racial brokenness and systemic injustice in our world. People are no longer
conditioned by a racialized society but are grounded in truth. All are equipped to flourish.
There are 10 sessions in the curriculum and participating joint members from both churches
will meet monthly, beginning in September. While final details are being worked out, we
anticipate meetings on Wednesday evenings, with some sessions at Grace Covenant and some
sessions at PSBC. These sessions are for adults only, and child-care services will be available!
If you would like to participate, please complete the following information, and submit this
form using Jot Form on the PSBS website. While we are hopeful we will have many
participants, space is limited. We look forward to finalizing our list of participants by Tuesday,
September 7, for an anticipated start date of Wednesday, September 15. Participants will be
