  • Housekeeping

    • Smoking is prohibited inside the Studio building as well as within 20 ft. from entrances, windows and air ventilation as per CA state law
    • No chewing gum inside the dance studio rooms
    • No liquids are allowed inside except for Water which should be kept in a spill-proof bottle
    • No food is permitted in the dance studio rooms, food may be kept in the waiting room area but please pick up after yourself and your children.
    • DSD is not reliable for any personal items lost or stolen in the building
    • No person is permitted to be in the office area without a staff member
    • Dancers-please keep all possessions brought to the studio in small closable bag that can be neatly stored under benches or to the side of the room.
    • *All items left at the studio unclaimed will be discarded or given away at the end of every month
    • Please label all personal items with your name, including water bottles
    • No outside shoes can be worn on the dance floors
  • Parking

    • Parking is available in the dirt areas behind the studio from the alley entrance and on the side of the building
    • Window front parking on the Blvd is reserved for dance instructors/staff only.
    • DSD is not responsible for any vehicle damage or theft that may occur near the premises.
    • Please make sure children are with you at all times, dancers should not be in the parking areas without an adult
  • Arrival/Pickup

    •  Enter through the back entrance in alley.
    • Exit through the door closest to your student's last class of the evening.
    • Students should arrive no more than 5 minutes early to class (DSD is not responsible for watching students or guests not in dance class).
    • Students not enrolled in dance class cannot be left unaccompanied in the studio and should be with a parent or guardian
    • Students under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult into the building and must be picked up by an adult (Students are not allowed to leave the premises without an adult. There is no supervision once a child exits the building)
    • Students in Primary classes must be accompanied by an adult into and out of the building. Parents/Guardians may leave the studio while their primary student is in class and return when class ends.
    • Arriving late to class is disruptive to the other students and to the learning environment, if a student arrives 10 minutes or more late to class it is up to the instructor whether or not the student is able to participate in class or just observe
    • Students should arrive ready for class (dressed in dress code and with assigned shoes for their class) or make sure they have enough time before class begins to get ready- This includes using the bathroom prior to class starting.
    • All students must be picked up no later then 15 minutes after their class has ended, if an unseen circumstance should come up making their pick up later than 15 minutes the studio needs to be informed as soon as possible.
    • If your student is enrolled in one of the last classes of the evening and is not picked up on time causing an instructor to wait more than 15 minutes past closing there will be a $10 fee imposed on your child’s bill. Please keep in mind instructors have families to get home to and other responsibilities to uphold after class.
  • Absences/Makeup Classes

    • If you know your student will be absent from a class please inform their instructor
    • Students that are frequently absent miss out on important learning material and may fall behind in class instruction which could cause them to fall behind in class content or may prohibit them from performance opportunities
    • Students 10 years and older are responsible for learning any missed choreography due to absence
    • If a student is absent from school due to illness please do not bring them to dance class, keep them home until they are well enough to return.
    • Missed classes are not pro-rated nor are they redeemable for a refund
    • Make up classes may be done in a lower class level (For example a level 2 student may take the level 1 ballet to make up for his/her ballet class missed) and must be made up within 2 weeks of the class that was missed.
    • If a student misses 4 consecutive dance classes without notification they will be dropped from class and you will still be responsible for all fees incurred
    • Makeup classes are not offered/available for the months of April-June due to recital preparations in classes.
  • Dress Code

    • New Students have up to 3 weeks to obtain all proper dress code required

     

    • Dress code items can be purchased online through the website for convenience and will ship to you! Go to the Nimbly website under "Dress Code" at www.danicas-school-of-dance.com  or through Discount Dance online and use the studio code 107671

     

     

    Mini Ballet
    (Ages 3-6)
    Any color leotard, skirt or shorts. Pink ballet shoes. Tan or pink tights.
    Black ballet shoes for boys. Plain White t-shirt. Solid black bottoms.

    Mini Jazz
    Black slip on jazz shoes. Leotard. Active shorts or leggings. Pink or tan tights.

    Mini Tap
    Black tap shoes. Leotard. Active shorts or leggings. Pink or tan tights.

     

    Jr. Ballet
    ​(Ages 7-10)
    Lavender color or black leotard. Pink Ballet shoes. Tan or pink tights. Black Ballet skirt or shorties.
    Black ballet shoes for boys. Plain White t-shirt. Solid black bottoms. Hair pulled off neck and out of face into a bun.

    Jazz 
    Leotard lavender color or black. Black jazz shoes. Pink or tan tights. Black active shorts or leggings. Hair pulled off neck and out of face.

    Tap 
    Leotard lavender color or black. Black tap shoes. Pink or tan tights. Black active shorts or leggings.

     

    Tween/ Teen 

    Ballet

    Hip Hop
    Active workout clothing. No jeans. Non-marking athletic shoes designated for dance only and not worn outside.

    Lyrical
    Same attire as ballet. Half sole shoes or ballet shoes. 

     

  • Class Etiquette/ Conduct

    • No cell phones are allowed in class
    • All students must be respectful to their instructor and to their classmates, any student who is disrespectful, makes fun of other students, disruptive, overly negative, or inappropriate in class will be dismissed from class at any time at the instructor’s discretion.
    • Dance is an art form and sometimes explores outside of a student’s comfort zone or experience level each student should strive to maintain a positive attitude and work to the best of their ability at all times.
    • Students and parents should always conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful to others; those who do not will be asked to leave or refused service.
    • No profanity or inappropriate language inside the studio
    • No running or horseplay inside the studio building
    • No touching the mirrors inside the dance rooms
    • Students should come to class free from distraction and prepared to work hard
    • Students must come dressed appropriately to each class (Please see Dress Code)
    • No shoes worn outside may be worn inside the dance rooms
  • Creative Rights

    • All movement, choreography and material used in class or during performances is either original work from the instructor and property thereof Danica’s School of Dance or may be used material from an outside choreographer or dance instructor and thus should never be used, performed elsewhere, distributed, or posted without written permission from a DSD instructor.
  • Tuition & Fees

    • Tuition is due on or before the 5th of every month
    • If tuition is past due there will be a $10 late fee, this fee will accumulate weekly until balance is paid
    • Tuition may be paid by Cash, Check, Credit or Debit Card (Cards accepted through Finli processing)
    • Finli allows you to set up automatic/reocurring payments
    • You can use ACH set up through Finli to not be charged processing fees
    • If you do not use ACH through Finli a 3% processing fee is added on through the Finli company (this is not a fee from DSD). 
    • No refunds will be given only credit in certain circumstances
    • Unpaid tuition balances will result in the holding of costumes, no admittance to class, or no performance opportunities 
    • A valid credit card will be kept on file for each student, if tuition or fees are not paid by the 15th of the month the card on file will be charged along with the late fees accumulated.
    • A credit card authorization form must be filled out in person to complete registration.
  • Withdrawing from Class

    • If a student or parent chooses to withdraw from a class they must do so at the end of the month before tuition is due on the 5th of the next month.
    • Your student is committing to a month of classes when they enroll and taking a spot in a class, please communicate when they will be withdrawing from class so the spot can be offered to another child.
    • There are no refunds on tuition if a student withdraws from a class before the end of the month
    • New for 2021* Fill out the withdraw form on the website to indicate which month will be their final class before withdrawing to use your last 1/2 month's tuition paid at time of registration. Form must be submitted by the last Monday of the month BEFORE the new billing cycle of the new month goes out.

  • Class Instructors/Schedule

    • Instructors may change at any time, as much notice as possible will be given.
    • Class schedules may need to be changed due to instructor illness or unforeseen circumstances as much notice as possible will be given to parents/students.
    • Permanent class schedule changes will be given at least 1 week in advance
  • Accommodation Requests

    • Any accommodation requests for dance classes or studio events such as performances must be made in writing with 4 weeks advanced notice before the class or performance is scheduled to take place. 
    • The studio will do its upmost to meet the accomodation but will communicate if unable to do so. 
    • If unable the student or parent making the request may provide their own accomodations to meet the needed request at their own cost.
    • Accomodations requiring extra costs to the studio above $100.00 will be passed on to the student's bill. 
  • Performances/Recital

    • All student performances are optional to particpate in
    • Recital performance does require a recital contract to be signed and turned in by the schedued due date in order to participate
    • Performances require a student to attend all classes/rehearsals associated.
    • When you sign your student up to perform you are making a commitment not only to the studio but also to the class and the other students in the class.
    • Being absent from class or rehearsals associated with the performance may result in your dancer being pulled from a section of choreography or the entire performance . 
  • Covid Policies

  •  

    • Students will not use or bring a water bottle that requires them to open the spout with their hand where their mouth drinks from

    • Parents should not send their student to class if they have been exhibiting any symptoms including but not limited to: fever, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, headache lasting more than a couple of hours, nausea or vomitting, diarrhea, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, loss of taste or smell.

    • Students will change their outside shoes upon arrival and then wash their hands before entering the dance room.

    • Payments can also be sent in a sealed envelope in with your student to class. 

    • The water fountain is closed. If your student is not sent with a water bottle and the studio has some in stock they may get one for $2.00

    • If your student or anyone in the household is positive or exhibiting symptoms the student must remain home from classes until cleared by a physician or negative covid test. 

    • If your student or anyone in the household is positive for covid after being at the studio please contact Danica as soon as possible so the necessary precautions can be made.

    • Any students that develop or show signs of symptoms in class will have their parent/guardian contacted to be picked up immediately.

    • If the entire studio must close classes will be either rescheduled or in rare circumstances a credit given. If only your child's class is closed they will be able to take a makeup class at a later time.

     

     

    We are a small business/studio with NO extra staff or instructors please be respectful of these policies to ensure the health of our staff as well as the other students. 

    The studio works closely with and follows the local school district's policies and guidelines for quarantining.
