Dharma Yoga is named after my teacher Sri Dharma Mittra based on over fifty years of his devotion to yoga practice and teaching. In essence, Dharma Yoga is a system of classical Hatha-Raja Yoga. It is graceful, yet challenging, traditional, yet contemporary. Dharma yoga class includes pranayama (breathing exercises), asana (postures), deep relaxation, and meditation. The practice is accessible for students of all levels, from beginners to lifelong practitioners, because it is adapted to students’ needs and conditions by providing variations and accommodations. Through the practice, one will slow down the thoughts, calm the mind, and recharge the physical body. Dharma yoga is a devotional practice that leads to radiant health, a kind heart, and a peaceful life. While participating in Dharma Yoga class, apart from a quiet and clear space and a yoga mat, you may also need some props, such as a wall, Dharma Yoga wheel, a strap, or some blocks to support your yoga practice. Please remember to listen to your body, because this is your practice, your journey.
