• Space Booking Request Form

    Find a space to host your activities at the Students' Union or university!
  • Please use this form to book spaces on campus for society events.

    Once you receive an email confirming your booking has been approved, you can add your event on the Student Unions' website using the society toolbox.

    If you have an external speaker attending your event, you will be required to complete an external speaker request form. If you have previously submitted a space booking request form and wish to add an external speaker to this event, please make sure to fill out the separate external speaker request form. 

    You may be required to complete a risk assessment for the event if the activities are not covered by our general risk assessment, we will let you know if this is the case.

  • Please book your event at least 7-10 working days in advance. We are currently experiencing high volumes of bookings so in order for us to facilitate your event, please let us know as soon as possible. 

    If you need to cancel or change a booking please give us 5 working days notice.

  • All Society events booked in at either of the Hives will receive 10% off drinks.

    Last service time in the Hives is usually 7:30pm, with a closing time of 8:00pm subject to the event. 



  • You will need to conduct a visual PAT test on the equipment before bringing it onto campus. It is your responsibility to conduct the visual checks. If you have questions, please contact lbsu-welcome@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

  • If you would like to order Dominos pizza for your society event, please fill out the following form: https://form.jotform.com/200705224081038. 

    Please note that orders will only be accepted if you have funds in your society account.

    There are available discounts on orders if these are booked through LBSU, it is £7 for large pizzas with one topping (minimum of 4) or 50% off menu price pizzas. Delivery for the pizzas is charged at £1.99.

  • Leeds Beckett Students' Union can now provide first aid kits for your event. If you would like to book out a first aid kit, please fill out the below fields and wait for approval from the LBSU Welcome Desk team. 

    Once confirmed, please arrive at the LBSU Welcome Desk, Portland Building, City Campus at your arranged time and date and let a member of staff know that you are here to collect the first aid kit. The LBSU Welcome Desk team will also confirm with you a return date and time. Please note, booking dates and times will be during term time only, between 10:00am - 3:00pm. 

    When booking out a first aid kit you will be required to show your student ID at the LBSU Welcome Desk, so please make sure to bring this with you. 

     

  • External Speaker Request Form

    Both your external speaker AND your space booking must be confirmed before you can advertise either.
  • This section of the form is all for approved student groups (e.g. Societies) and Elected Officers who have an external guest speaking at their event. The form must be completed by the event organiser and submitted no less than 14 days in advance of the event.

     

    An external speaker is defined as any person who is not currently enrolled as a Leeds Beckett student or who is not currently employed as a Leeds Beckett University staff member. If your speaker is a currently enrolled student or is a staff member such as a lecturer, please hit the "Back" button and select "No" for the last question.

  • No event involving any external speakers may be publicised until the speaker has been cleared through the appropriate procedures.  You will be notified if your speaker request has been approved.

    As the event organiser, it is your responsibility to inform your external speaker of the External Speaker Agreement.

    The Students' Union reserves the right to cancel or prohibit any event with an external speaker if the procedures are not followed in accordance with the external guest speaker procedure below:

  • Leeds Beckett Students’ Union (LBSU) supports the culture of academic freedom on campus and encourages open debate towards the development of students’ ideas and understanding. 

    LBSU has a responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of students and the general public. All events organised by student groups intend to balance freedom of expression with freedom from harm and prevent speakers who incite hatred, violence or law breaking.

    By attending an LBSU event your group and your external speaker agree to abide by the Union’s policies and regulations, the legislation that protect individuals and groups from intimidation, discrimination and harassment and to be respectful of the beliefs and opinions of others.

    In particular:

    • It is not permitted to encourage, glorify or promote any acts of terrorism including individuals, groups or organisations that support such acts.
    • It is not permitted to incite hatred, violence or call for the breaking of the law.
    • It is not permitted to spread hatred and intolerance or promote disruption of social and community harmony.
    • Care must be taken not to insult other faiths or groups.
    • It is not permitted to raise funds for any external organisation or cause without express permission of Leeds Beckett Students’ Union.
    • Any instructions from event organisers, LBSU staff or University security must be followed.
    • Any breach of LBSU's policies may result in disciplinary or further action being taken. This may restrict the ability of student groups to organise future activities and events.

    LBSU reserves the right to contact the external speaker directly for the purpose of sending a copy of the agreement details.
