The Puppy Holding Fee of $500 is collected at the birth of the puppies and due within their first week. Fees are applied to the final balance due which will include Washington Sales Tax. If anyone requests a temperament and conformation assessment on the litter, these are done at 7 weeks. At times we include the assessments in the price of the puppy depending on the current market. We sometimes pass the cost of this onto the requester(s). Sometimes this fee can be split by several new puppy parents and if one person is interested, then I will ask others on the Hold Pup List. These are great if you have special needs, for example a young child or you are disabled and need an "easy" puppy. These tests are especially important if you are interested in breeding or show quality, as we will not do full registration without assessment. We spend the week between 7 and 8 weeks determining which puppies are a good match for you. We've found that their personalities don't fully develop until 7 to 8 weeks, and we want to make sure we provide a successful match for you and our pups. We will provide lots of video or live stream opportunities for you to get an idea on which ones you like, as well. We will also do facetime chats with you so you can get to know us and the puppies. It is not good for the pups and you to find out they are the wrong dog for you later. You get to pick out your pup at 8 weeks and we will try to give you several options. You may take your pup home at that time or leave your pup for another one to 2 weeks for further pack/litter development. If most pups go home, though, we will want you to take yours home, also. We do find that some pups could use extra time with the litter and mom does quite a bit of training, also. We reserve the right to charge boarding if we have too many families leaving their puppies after 9 weeks.
