Three (3) Scholarships for $1,000 for scholars to apply to the university of their choice. The announcement of the winners will take place in June.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior.
2. Applicant must have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Applicant must be committed to enrollment in a two (2) or four (4) year college or accredited vocational school OR Applicant must provide an acceptance letter to a two (2) or four (4) year college or accredited vocational school.
4. Applicant must submit proof of college enrollment before any scholarship funds can be awarded. All enrollment verification letters must be on official school letterhead and should not be dated prior to November 15, 2021.
5. Applicant must furnish a current high school transcript or academic record.
6. Applicant must have two (2) letters of recommendation; one (1) from a work supervisor or school administrator and one (1) from a guidance counselor or teacher. If you are not currently employed, you may obtain your letters from teachers, guidance counselors, or school administrators.
NOTE: Applicants cannot submit recommendation letters with their application. Work supervisors, school administrators, guidance counselors or teachers can email recommendation letters directly to
scholarship@sgrhodallas.com.
7. Applicant must be a resident of Dallas County.
8. Applicant must complete a one (1) page essay (double spaced) answering one (1) of the following questions provided in this application.
9. All applicants must meet with the scholarship committee for a virtual scheduled interview. (This will be in May on a Sunday afternoon) If you are selected based on the scholarship committee’s criteria, we will contact you by phone.
