  • Matching Scholarship Sponsor/ Donor form

  • Thank you for your partnership

Thank you for partnering with us through our Matching Scholarship program. Your generosity provides immediate support to your chosen student(s) while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our scholarship scheme.

    Important Guidelines

    • Review Period: Matching Scholarships are reviewed every 12 months. Please note that ongoing College contributions are subject to review and are not guaranteed beyond this period.
    • Authorised Representative: To maintain administrative integrity and transparency, the donor and the scholarship recipient cannot be the same individual.
      • Example: If the student is the Senior Minister of a sponsoring church, this form must be completed by a different authorized leader (e.g., an Elder or Board Member).
    • Tax Deductibility for Individuals: If you are donating as an individual, please be aware of the following Australian Tax Office (ATO) requirements for tax-deductible gifts:
      • No Material Benefit: You must not receive any personal advantage or "strings attached" in return for your gift.
      • Relative Restrictions: To qualify for a tax deduction, the student cannot be a "relative" (e.g., spouse, parent, child, or sibling).
      • Transparency: Contributions made to relatives are considered personal gifts. While we welcome this support (which can be made separately with our accounts team), these payments are not tax-deductible and not applicable for matching scholarships.
      • For further details on these regulations, please refer to the ATO Gift Types and Conditions.
  • Your information

  • A Note for Relatives

  • To comply with Australian tax law, the Matching Scholarship program is reserved for independent donors. Because there is a family relationship, this contribution cannot be processed as a tax-deductible donation or qualify for a matching scholarship.

However, we would still love to help you support your family member! You can make a direct payment toward their tuition fees via our Accounts Department. Please contact our accounts team (accounts@morling.edu.au) for bank details and reference instructions.

Helpful Resource: For more information on what constitutes a tax-deductible gift, please visit the ATO Gift Types and Conditions page.

If you ticked the "yes, I am a relative" box in error, please restart this form.

  • Matching Scholarship Information

  • How our Matching Scholarships work

Matching Scholarships are offered so that the donor/sponsor pays for a 1/3 of a unit fee, the student pays for 1/3 of the unit fee (either upfront or by FEE-HELP) and the College covers the other 1/3.

    • This can work for any number of units completed in a semester.
Minimum cost/donation - 1/3 unit. You can see how much a unit costs on our fees page.
    • Matching scholarship funds should be paid before the start of any study period and are used towards unit fees only.

You can choose how many units you want to sponsor:

    • 1 unit
    • as per student's enrolment
    • other - especially if you want to select a maximum number of units (typically a fulltime student would take 8 units in a 12 mth period for example). If you do choose this, please indicate the maximum in the comment box below.

You can choose how long you would like this agreement to last:

    • This study period only
    • 6 months (includes one semester and a winter or summer school)
    • 1 year (includes 1st and 2nd semesters and both winter or summer school)
    • ongoing (can be reviewed at any stage of study)

Agreements can be extended after an annual review.

  • Information about the student/s you want to support

  • Financial Information

  • Matching scholarship funds should be paid before Week 3 of any study period (or before the Census Date for that unit). The student should be aware of the Census Date according to the applicable Academic Calendar.

Once the student has enrolled in a unit you will be invoiced by our Accounts Department for the applicable matching donation.

    Before you commit, check

    1. That the student is planning on studying in the next study period
    2. That you have discussed which type of matching scholarship you are planning to sponsor and your length of committment.
    3. That you are aware of the Award/Course the student is completing and the number of units this could involve.
    4. The fees for the units the student is completing (not that fees will change slightly at the start of every academic year).
