During the 2020-21 academic year institutions moved fully online as a response to COVID-19. This created challenges for those who were not familiar with technology. If one was unfamiliar with technology they only had one choice, figure it out. COVID-19 exacerbated the digital divide. In this interactive session, we will discuss ways to address the digital divide, recommended trainings, helpful tips and a live technology demonstration to support those impacted by the digital divide.

Dr. Shetina M. Jones received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University. Dr. ShetinaM. Jones completed her PhD at Indiana State University on high-achieving Black women at HBCUs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). She has over 13 years of experience working in Higher Education in campus life, multicultural affairs, residence life, and student affairs Leadership. Dr. Jones has worked at University of Detroit Mercy, Wilberforce University, Texas A & M University-Commerce, Indiana State University, Michigan State University, The University of Michigan, Cornell University, and Eastern Michigan University. Her research interests are historically, Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and Black women in STEM. She has been an active member in ACPA and NASPA serving on Directorate Boards and presenting. Dr. Jones also isfounder of SM Jones Consulting and co-founder of Fearlessly Fierce, LLC.
