Faith Formation Parent/Guardian Responsibilities In addition to being the primary educators in the faith, parents by their enrollment into the Faith Formation program agree to support the process in the following ways: It is important to recognize that the classroom catechists assist the domestic church (your household) in training the children in the faith; they cannot replace you, nor is any classroom Faith Formation program sufficient to fully pass on the faith to the children. Please walk with your child every step of the way and be sure to share the beauty of the faith with them on a daily basis. If you do not have a home copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, or the New American Bible, please contact the office.
If not already safe environment certified, parents agree to ensure that one adult in the family will become safe environment certified by the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, by October 31, 2024. (Training is offered online, lasting approximately 1 hour.) This will allow families to participate in the volunteer opportunities and contribute to the safety of the program by serving in such roles as a Hall Monitor, Classroom Aide, or Dinner Server, on a rotating basis. ALL volunteers must be safe environment certified, and ALL parents will be expected to participate in volunteer roles at least 3 times during the school year.
Adhere to the Attendance Policy: For children in all grades, 1st & 2nd absence, noted; 3rd absence may result in parish or volunteer staff contacting the family. Please consider this a wellness check. If there is something the parish can do to help, we would like the opportunity to so. 4th absence may result in the Pastor, or the Director of Faith Formation, in consultation with the family, determining if the classroom Faith Formation alone is the best fit for the child, or if supplemental or alternative means should be employed.
Attendance is taken at the beginning of each student classroom period, at learning centers, and at large group learning sessions.
