Why the “Open Source,” interoperable, web-Metaverse will never work:

Privacy:

Decentralization on the web has done nothing for our privacy.

Usability:

Going to a new virtual world will be like being born all over again.

A new set of controls

A new way of identifying what's human or NPC

A new way of discovering if your voice chat is on or off!

Average people are terrified by this sort of ambiguity.

Open source projects are notorious for adding complex features and making their products unusable for normal people.
