• Thank you for applying to the Black Fellowship Program! The Black Youth Fellowship (BYF) seeks to place highly motivated, passionate, and hard-working young people on a fast track to success. BYF is a professional and leadership development program focusing on building the next generation of Black public servants - providing training, mentorship, a paid internship, and an opportunity to get involved in a community project. The BYF is a four-month program, with this year's cohort beginning January 2022. Intensive training and mentoring are complemented by a 12-week placement in the office of a Member of Council. The program is building on the success of the Muslim Youth Fellowship, now in its fifth year. Who is the ideal applicant? The ideal applicants are individuals who are eager to build their political literacy by entering entry-level positions, deepen their understanding of municipal governance, have a desire to benefit their communities, and develop strong leadership skills that will hopefully place them in prominent decision-making roles in the future.

Note: Applicants must be 18-30 years of age to apply. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Interviews will take place from October 26 to October 31.

Commitments: The BYF placements will run from the beginning of January to the end of March. There will be both paid part time and full-time opportunities, ranging from 10-25 hours. Prior to the placements, we will be hosting a series of pre internship training workshops that will take place on weekends, 1-2 weekend days in a month. Program timeline: November (training) - March.
