  • Program Description and Purpose

    The MWCF S.T.E.P program is organized to encourage, empower, support, and guide underrepresented students during their academic journey within the fields of healthcare. 

    Audience

    The S.T.E.P program is for students in their last year of college who will be applying for professional school (medical, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary, optometry, PA, PT, OT) or students in their gap year and will be applying for the first time or reapplying within the next cycle.

    The program will include:

    • One to One Mentoring
    • Workshops to assist with application processes, personal statement review, study and interviewing skills, test-taking strategies, and time management just to name a few
    • Application Preparation 
    • Start of test preparation (self-study). The MWCF has study resources available for a variety of healthcare entry exams and career paths.
    • Science Saturdays will offer a curriculum with scientific methodologies, basic science review, and preparation for entrance exams
    • Professional/Clinical/Hands-on experience through research or community projects, shadowing, or volunteer activities
