  • The Saint Kateri Tekakwitha – Emergency Assistance Program is intended to help people in our parish, Poquoson and York County, who have a temporary emergency financial need and who have exhausted other available resources. Our assistance is limited to $300 per household per year. 

    Therefore, we suggest that you first reach out to:

    they have access to many federal, state and local programs.

    Application Process:
    If you still have unmet needs, please ask the other organizations to refer you to us.

    To request an interview to determine if we can assist you, complete this online form. Interviews are by appointment only and are scheduled on Tuesdays from 1 pm to 3 pm or Thursdays from 9 am to 11 am. Notification of appointments will be sent to you by email.

  • What to expect:
    After your request for an interview is received, a  volunteer will contact you via email to set up the interview.  During this pandemic, our parish will not be conducting face to face interviews.  Please be prepared to explain what created your crisis and to discuss all household income and expenses.  Our parish may require that you or others in your home search for work or apply for other benefits to improve your situation before we offer assistance.  We may also require you to access services at another agency before being interviewed, if we believe they can better meet your needs.  Our parish cannot guarantee that if you are interviewed, you will be offered assistance.  If you are approved for financial assistance, all checks are mailed directly to the vendor. 

     
    Documents that may be requested: 
    Government issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.) for each household member 18 years and older. 

    Proof of all household income. · 

    Expense receipts for the circumstance you identify as creating your crisis. (Ex: car repair, home repair, etc.) · 

    Utility disconnect notice if requesting utility assistance.  The account must be in the name of someone residing in the home.

    Court eviction notice if requesting rental assistance. 

    St. Kateri Tekakwitha - Emergency Assistance Program (SKT-EAP) mails checks directly to the vendor (i.e. utility company, landlord, etc.)

    Your signature certifies that all information provided to SKT-EAP is freely and voluntarily given without coercion. 

    Your signature also certifies that all information submitted to SKT-EAP is accurate and complete in order to determine eligibility.  Failure to do so result in a denial of services.
