EXPECTATIONS TO PARTICIPATEWHEN AND WHERE WE ARE GOINGOur high school and college age mission trip this summer will be July 9-15, 2023. We will be once again be serving with Next Step Ministries as we travel to Sumpango, Guatemala. We will be flying to and from Guatemala by plane. Much more details will be given about flight times, construction projects and more as we get closer to the time of our trip.WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS TRIP?The primary purposes of our trip include:
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THE MISSION TRIP?
HOW MUCH DOES THIS TRIP COST?The cost of this trip will be $800 per participant plus air travel and passport costs. The cost will cover all food, housing, insurance, materials for construction projects, trip t-shirt and transportation while on location in Guatemala. It does not however cover airfare, souvenirs, or food/snacks to and from location to Guatemala. It also does not cover the cost of acquiring your international passport, which is required for this trip. We also have a special free day during our time in Guatemala. Depending on the cost of the activities we choose, there may be some small additional costs there as well.A $100 non-refundable deposit to secure your place will be due on or before Wednesday, January 11, 2022.HOW DO I PAY FOR THE TRIP?You will need to either pay out of pocket or fundraise. However, we have some very significant resources available for you to help you fundraise the rest of your cost for the trip. First off, we have sample support letters you can use to pen your own support letters to send to friends and family to partner with you in prayerfully and financially supporting you on this trip.Secondly, in 2020 our church held a garage sale to help fund the trip of in international mission trip (which we had planned at the time but had to cancel). That sale went very well and we will have a significant amount of money available for each participant. Each person who participated in helping at that garage sale will get a certain amount granted towards their trip according to the hours they served at the garage sale. The rest of the money will be proportioned out according to service hours between now future payments. We will will ask students to work a certain amount of service hours and they will receive a portion of this money based upon the service hours they participate in. More details will be given upon this at our first official meeting once we have everyone registered.WHAT IS EXPECTED IF I GET ACCEPTED TO GO ON THE TRIP?Every student and adult will be required to participate in meetings before we leave. College students can participate in meetings via zoom if needed. Every member will be attend each of these meetings to prepare for their responsibilities. If you for any reason are not able to make a meeting, you will be expected to have a personal meeting with Cody to catch up on all needed relevant information. Each participant is also expected to participate in 10 hours of service before the month of May. If a participant does not show commitment to these meetings, his/her status of going on the trip will be re-evaluated.TRIP APPLICATION
I hereby submit with my signature all the above information and consider it correct to the best of my knowledge. I also understand there will be more forms to complete as we get closer to the date of our trip including a complete medical release form.
