IMPORTANT NOTES: SPRING 2026
1) We're butting up against Jotform's submissions limit on the free tier. If you're unable to submit, that means we've hit it; assuming you can still read this, please send your rec (in our format with all components included, including content warnings) to elizabethandgav at gmail. We're frustrated by this: we only switched to Jotform because or original Google form got aggressively spammed multiple times. We're going to investigate other platforms, or maybe give Google another shot and hope they improved their security in the past 6 years.
2) One reason we're up against the limit this month (April) is we received several dozen submissions that consist mainly of story titles and summaries (copy/pasted from the stories themselves) and no other information. We can't run these—we actually need reccers' recs. (And we'd prefer if "backstory" was in your own words, too.) If you're unfamiliar with our reccing format, please check out the archives via the link below. Recs don't have to be super formal or some great work of literary criticism—just tell us why you liked it! How did it make you feel? Why do you think other people would enjoy it?
✨
This is the fic submission form for The Rec Center, a weekly fandom newsletter edited by Gavia Baker-Whitelaw & Elizabeth Minkel. If you didn't come to this form via the newsletter itself, you can check it out and subscribe here.
✨
One-off recs are VITAL for our grab-bag and trope lists. If you love a story and would like to see it included in a future issue of the newsletter, please fill out this form. (Vids, comics, and other fanworks are also encouraged, though these fields are geared towards fic—drop us a message if you want to include more information!)
A few quick notes to address some consistent issues we see:
1) Please fill out *both* "backstory" and "rec," and please, please, please include any content warnings that apply. For "backstory," you don't have to, like, explain the plot of Star Wars or whatever—just situate us in a sentence or two, so we know what we're getting into.
2) We don't accept self-recs. That being said, we encourage our guest reccers to share their own work, so if you do a guest rec list or explainer for us, please include a link to your stuff!
3) We won't share recs that aren't broadly available to the public—locked-to-archive-members AO3 fics are totally fine, but Google doc copies of fics that have been taken down are not. We have no strong feelings about sharing the latter amongst friends, but we're not comfortable sharing it with thousands of people, especially if we don't know the intentions of the original author when they took their stuff down.
4) We also have no strong feelings about original works published in fannish spaces like the AO3, but these submissions should be *fanworks*.
