• Artist Application Form

  • Thanks for your interest in participating in the Simpsonville Fine Arts Gallery in Simpsonville, SC. We rent exhibition space for 2D and 3D art as well as studios. All the items displayed and sold in the gallery must be produced by the artists. Artists can rent wall space in increments 6 feet wide (approximately 48 square feet) or a studio (8' x 8'). The gallery will also have a gift shop.  The gallery will process the sales, pay the state and local sales taxes, and pay the balance of the sales less commission to the artists within the first week of the following month. The initial rental period for new artists will be 3 months. After the initial 3 months the artists will be charged monthly.

    Rental Fees:

    • Wall display is $100/month per increment plus 25% commission.
    • Studios are $250/month plus 25% commission - studios are 8 feet by 8 feet
    • A 5% fee will be added to the rental payment if the rental fee is paid with a credit or debit card

    Gift shop:

    • Participation will be by invitation only
    • Rent free
    • Artists will pay a 35% commission on all sales

     

  • Exhibitors will not be selected on a first come - first served basis.  All artists will be judged by jurors.  In addition to quality of the art, the gallery will also consider the marketability of the art work, the popularity of the artist and/or the style of the artwork in the market area we serve.

    Exhibitors will be expected to rotate their artwork.  No artwork should be on display for more than 6 months.  Exhibitors are encouraged to keep their display freah by rotating pieces as frequently as every month.  The quality of all the exhibitor's artwork shall be consistent with the quality of the artwork submitted to the jurors during the application process.

  • Provide your artist biography - a summary of significant facts about your art career written in the third person.  This can include where you were born, where you work, and when you first became interested in art. Discuss any art education/training you had and degrees earned. If none, state you're self-taught.

    Provide an artist's statement - An artist statement is a not-too-long series of sentences that describe what you make and why you make it. It’s a stand-in for you, the artist, talking to someone about your work in a way that adds to their experience of viewing that work.

  • Provide a description and digital images of 5 pieces of the pieces you would display.  Define the materials and processes used as well as the sizes of the pieces.

  • All artwork for wall display must be framed and wired for hanging.  Sawtooth brackets are not acceptable.

    Artist must provide floor mounted shelves for their 3D objects.  The artists must provide packaging for each piece of 3D art.  The packaging must be provided when the art is submitted for exhibition and labeled with the title of the art and the artist's name.  3D art will not be accepted for display unless it is accompanied with packaging.

    The gallery will hang all the wall mounted art and may move the artwork monthly.
