    Background Information & Eligibility Critera

    As part of the OCDSB's partnership with the Jeju Provincial Office of Education, 4 ICP students have been invited to particate in the 15th Annual Jeju Youth Forum this October 29 - November. 

    The tentative itinerary is:

    Friday, October 24: Ottawa to Seoul

    October 25 - 27: Seoul guided tour and exploration

    October 28 - November 1: Fly to Jeju and attend the Youth Forum

    November 2: Fly Jeju to Seoul and on to Ottawa

    Students will be accompanied throughout the time by a chaperone.

    Approximate Cost is ~$3300 - $3500 depending upon flights and includes all accomodations, flights, mandatory travel insurance and most meals.

    Before submitting your application, please ensure that you clearly understand both the Eligibility Criteria and Application Requirements. You will need to be okay missing 8 days of classes here in Ottawa.

  • ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

     

    In order to be considered for this program, you must:

    • Be a full-time current student (this year and next year) registered in the OCDSB’s International Certificate Program;
    • Be proficient in English (the language of instruction at the Jeju Youth Forum);
    • Have an excellent work ethic and ability to work and learn independently;
    • Have an interest in Global Citizenship Education;
    • Have completed the Reference Checks;
    • Have completed and signed the application.

    Your motivation for applying
  • In 300-400 words or a short video essay, please describe what your connection or interest is with global citizenship and / or sustainable development goals, and how the Jeju Youth Forum 2025 would support your personal development in these areas.

  • Please ask at least TWO adults from your school to be your reference. This needs to be someone who has taught you or worked with you this past year (teacher, guidance counselor, principal or vice-principal, educational assistant, coach).

     

    Please open this document and email it or give it to your references. 

     

    Should your application make it through the first round, we may be contacting your references to inquire about your suitability to participate in the Jeju Youth Forum. To avoid any surprises, please inform your references that they might be contacted.

    We may also request interviews the week of April 28.
