• Dance in Focus Program

    May?June Intensive Occurs: Thursday, Monday, Saturday & Sunday May 26, (May 30th- optional), June 4 & 5, 2022
  • Dance in Focus is a partnership between the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Drew University.  Students will attend several weekend long dance intensive workshops led by some of the most prominent dance choreographers presented on BAM's main stages as well as BAM's dynamic teaching dance artists. These intensives include the opportunity to attend BAM main stage shows. All workshops will be held on BAM's campus.

    Dance in Focus provides a space for high school-aged dancers to explore, experience, and expand their understanding of process, technique, and critical response to realize pathways that cultivate holistic artistic development for young artists and practitioners. This program aims to create holistic artistic spaces for young adults to engage, share, and exchange through artistic and academic mentorship and cross learning.

    May 14, 2022- Abdel R. Salaam/Forces of Nature (May/June Intensive V)

     

    Virtual group interviews will be held shortly following application deadlines. All program communication is conducted via email, text, and/or phone call. Please ensure all contact information in your application is accurate.

  •  BAM works in accordance with the NYC vaccination mandate for attending in-person performance venues. We require participants to provide proof of vaccination one week prior to the start of this program.

    Participants are asked to upload their Excelsior pass or a copy of their vaccination card with their name and date of vaccination clearly labeled on those forms.

    Once accepted into the program, students are required to wear masks for the entire duration of all workshops on BAM and Mark Morris Dance Group campuses.
