2021-2022 ILEARN and ISTEP+ Retest
Reporting Embedded Speech-to-Text (STT) Accommodation

Corporation Test Coordinators (CTCs) and Nonpublic School Test Coordinators (NPSTCs) must use this form to report any students who require the use of an embedded STT accommodation per their formal educational plans. The embedded STT accommodation enables software to record a student’s verbal response to open-ended items as text. If the embedded STT accommodation tool is used, permissive mode is not required. Please contact the Office of Student Assessment with any questions.

Process: CTCs and NPSTCs must complete the applicable fields of this survey for any student who requires the embedded STT accommodation. IDOE will extract submitted data ahead of each test window to ensure students can use the STT accommodation during the practice test*. Note scheduled extract dates, below:

*Call the Office of Student Assessment (317-232-9050) before the dates in the table if a student requires the use of the embedded STT accommodation when accessing the practice tests. We will work with the CTC or NPSTC to collect student information in a secure manner.

Directions: Complete the first three fields for each student whose formal plan requires the embedded STT accommodation. Then select the applicable content area tests for which this accommodation is needed.

If reporting STNs for more than five students, attach an Excel file containing the following information for each student:

• Test Window Name (e.g., Spring 2022 ILEARN Biology ECA)
• Content Area(s)
• Corporation Number
• School Number 
• STN

By submitting this form, the CTC or NPSTC affirms that the information provided can be verified at the request of the Indiana Department of Education.

NOTE: CTCs and NPSTCs should email IDOE if they need to report the STT accommodation for students after the schedule extract date. Include “Reporting Embedded STT Accommodation” in the subject line.
