  • CLASS / GROUP

You can file an application for:

    • an entire class
      • for example, all the 25 students in the 4C at the L.S. Galileo Galilei
    • a group coming from one class
      • for example, only 12 students in the 4C at the L.S. Galileo Galilei

  • LANGUAGES

English must be spoken (min. level B1 according to CEFR) by the majority of the people in the class/group since most of the committees in step 5 will work in English.

However, there are also some experimental committees which will work in other languages. In this section, you can select your secondary language(s) of preference (they also require a min. level B1 according to CEFR).

For example, if 4 people in your group wish to work in Spanish your selections will look like these:

    Secondary language (1): Spanish
    Secondary language (2): none
    Secondary language (3): none

Or, for example, if 4 people in your group wish to work in Spanish and 6 in Italian your selections will look like these:

    Secondary language (1): Italian
    Secondary language (2): Spanish
    Secondary language (3): none

  • MOTIVATION - General

Tell us why your class/group wants to participate in the Diplomacy Education program. Do not forget to mention, among other things you wish to say:

    • if you have done anything similar in the past and when, accompanied by the results of that experience (we do not mean "awards" rather intangible outcomes like: better public speaking, improven English, greater interest in the world's issues, consequent involvement in civil society, etc.);
    • if your class or group is studying or going to study any relevant aspect of history, geography or else that can benefit from this program but is also - viceversa - beneficial to this program;
    • what the most interesting part of the program is to you and how Global Action can help you and your group become better world citizens.

You have 750 words at your disposal and you have to write at least 70 words.

    IMPORTANT:

Due to the high number of application forms we are receiving for the 5th edition of Diplomacy Education, your motivation will be the most important criterion of selection for us.

So, tell us why we should select your class!

You should write this in English and at least 70 words.

  • IMPORTANT!

All the steps (1-5) of Diplomacy Education are MANDATORY. The class has to participate in all the steps organized by Global Action and the Embassy to receive the final certification at the end of the programme.

Please, consider that the majority of the meetings will be in Rome, at the Embassy matched with your class or at the HQ of our main partners like IILA, WFP, FAO and IDLO.

N.B.: in light of the health situation, all activities and meetings are subject to ministerial directives and are subject to the approval of the embassies, the UN and all parties involved. The carrying out of the activities, in presence or remote, does not depend directly on Global Action. By agreement between all parties involved, the activities may take place in presence on the basis of a subdivision into groups and/or shifts. Alternatively, the activities will take place on online platforms, or according to the methods suggested and/or agreed by the embassy and the UN.

For step 5, GAMUN (Global Action Model United Nations), students will be involved in a 4-day simulation. The official week of works (at the end of April or at the beginning of May) will be selected according to the hosting partner's availabilty.

If something about the steps is not clear to you, send an e-mail to info@diplomacyeducation.org before applying.

  • REGIONAL PREFERENCE

Your class/group will be assigned a country and you will work with the Embassy, Mission to the United Nations, national Institute of Culture of this country so that your knowledge on the country's policies come directly from those who represent it.

You can give us your preference about the UN regional groups and then select a few of the countries within the region that you would like to study and work for. Make sure you read which countries belong to which regional group at this UN webpage.

Another interesting option for you to consider concerns the so-called permanent observers. Read more at this link, find out about who they are, and chose them!

  • COUNTRY PREFERENCE

You are now allowed to select your country preferences, according to the regional preferences previously selected.

Please, note that this does not mean that we will assign you to one of these countries but simply that we will try our best according to the following criteria:

    • assignments will happen on a first-come-first-served basis (so be among the first ones to apply to have more chances to get your favorite countries!)
    • assignments will happen according to motivations given in the application
    • assignments will happen according to the number of people that each embassy or mission is able to host at their premises and the location of the school that the diplomats have to visit
  • MOTIVATION - Regional & Country

Tell us more about your class/group's regional and country preferences. Why are you interested in these specific areas of the world?

You have 750 words at your disposal and you have to write at least 70 words.

You should write this in the second language you chose. If none, then write this in English.
