TOURNAMENT DETAILS & TIME CONTROLS

Swiss pairings will be used. This is not a knockout tournament. All competitors play in every round. There are 6 rounds in each section.

The organizer reserves the right to merge sections in the event of low entries for a section.

Only stewards and designated staff are allowed in the playing area!

TIME CONTROLS For all sections the time controls will be 20 mins per player for all moves with a 5 second increment per move starting from move 1.

ECF RATING All games will be submitted to the ECF for ECF rating. To find search an ECF rating click here

Sections

Ages are calculated on August 31st of the year of the finals. For example, to play in the U8 your child needs to be aged 7 or younger on August 31st.
Assuming your child in the correct school year in England:
U8s are Year 3 and below.
U10s are Year 5 and below.
U12s are Year 7 and below. 

 

SCHEDULE/ROUND TIMES

Doors open at 9am.

Introduction 9:50am

Round 1 10:00 am Please aim to arrive at least 15 mins before!!

Round 2 11:00 am

Round 3 12:00pm

Breaktime 1pm

Round 4 1:30pm

Round 5 2:30 pm

Round 6 3:30pm

Prize giving 4:30pm.

PRIZES 

1st 2nd and 3rd place trophies. There will be plaques for all players reaching a score of 2.5 points or more and certificates for all participants

NON-PLAYING AREA AND DISCLAIMER

There will be a restroom near in the building with a limited number of seats and tables as well as a few boards for analysis/practice. If you and your child are not using the restroom please take your belongings with you so others can use the space. There is a nearby park and we hope that the weather is nice enough for you take your children outside in between rounds! There are also a few local shops and cafes within walking distance of the venue.

Please leave the premises tidily and throw rubbish away!

The organizer accepts no responsibility of any loss, theft or accident during the tournament. Parents are responsible for their children. We do not provide supervision of children in between rounds. In the event of any dispute, the organizers decision will be final. The organizer reserves the right to refuse entry without providing a reason. All entries are subject to availability.

There will be hot and cold refreshments nut free refreshments sold throughout the day at the venue.

If you and your child are not using the restroom please take your belongings with you so others can use the space. There is a nearby park and we hope that the weather is nice enough for you take your children outside in between rounds! There are also a pub 2 minutes away from the venue.

Smoking including vapes are prohibitted throughout the venue. 

Refunds: All refunds must be requested by email are subject to a £10 fees per event.

Refunds will NOT be provided if requested on 2nd October or later for the event on 10th October OR 20 Novermber for the event on 28 November. If you have registered your child for the event in October but wish to transfer the entry to the November event you can request to do so on 10th October or before at no additional cost.
