    If you do not have a GCSE, A-Level or BTEC equivalent we can still consider your application as admissions are assessed on portfolios. The course recognises different forms of prior learning.

  • Digital Portfolio

  • For your digital portfolio you will need to create one PDF containing 20 high resolution photographs of your work.

    This should be emailed to diplomayear@kings-foundation.org on the same day that you submit this application form.

    The portfolio should include:

    · 10 drawings in dry media (e.g. graphite, charcoal, chalk, pastel, Conté, pencil)
    · 10 additional works in other media (e.g. painting, photography, sculpture, animation*, print,)

    These works must have been created within the past three years.

    Within the 20 image limit, you may include images from sketchbook pages, however if possible, please try to limit this to 4 images.

    *Animators may submit 2 short video files included within their additional works Via a link (that does not require a password). Please limit each video file to 2 minutes / max 8MB per video.

    Each image must be labelled in the following way:
    Title of Work, Dimensions, Medium.
    i.e. Untitled, 25x25, Pencil On Paper (dimensions should be calculated in centimetres)

    Please be prepared to bring these works along with further sketchbooks to the interview if you are shortlisted.

  • Academic Reference

    Please provide the details of one referee who will be able to tell us why he/she thinks that you would be a good candidate for the course. Please note we will only ask for references for those candidates who are invited to the interview stage of application.
  • Scholarships

    We only accept scholarship applications from students who have attended a state school. Students awarded a full scholarship pay no course fee and receive a bursary for travel, materials costs, and a student support allowance. Scholarships are means-tested with personal circumstances and artistic merit taken into account. The Foundation will contact you for this information after receiving your application.
  • Fees and Fee Reductions

    The course is fee-paying. Fees for domestic (UK) students for 2024/25 are £6,950.00. If you cannot afford the full fees and have not attended a state school, the school is able to offer a limited number of fee reductions depending on circumstances. Domestic fees should be paid in full within 10 days of a formal written offer, this includes a non-refundable administration fee of £500. Refunds are not given once the course has started unless in approved extenuating circumstances. A refund of 75% of the course fee (excluding the administration fee) can be arranged if the applicant withdraws before the 1st August. A refund of 50% of the course fee (excluding the administration fee) can be arranged if the applicant withdraws before the 1st September.
