Together We Are Strong is a collective of Southern community groups and organizations that work together to fight for immigration policies that respect the dignity and humanity of immigrant communities.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Levels of engagement:

Overall structure & meeting frequencies:
- Core Team (meets monthly or as needed)
- Broad legalization workgroup (meets bi-weekly)
- End Detention and Deportation workgroup (meets monthly)
- The whole collective will meet once a month for general meetings and quarterly to share updates and evaluate progress
Time commitment:
- Core Team: 3-4 hrs per month
- Broad legalization workgroup: 4-6 hrs per month
- End detention and deportation workgroup: 2-4 hrs per month

LEVELS OF ENGAGEMENT

Members of this collaborative will determine their engagement level as active members or supporters.

Active members:
- Agree with and act on the collaborative principles
- Join and participate in one of the working group
- Participate in the collaborative calls, actions, and activities.
- Each member organization should designate at least 1 representative to serve on the collaborative. These designated representatives may send an alternate if they are unable to participate in a call/meeting.
Supporters:
- Agree with and act on the collaborative principles
- Promote and uplift the collaborative efforts
- Provide support when possible
- Participate in quarterly meetings
The Core Team will review the organizations/groups interested in joining the collaborative and make a recommendation regarding their membership to the entire collaborative. The collaborative as a whole will decide whether to accept new organizations/groups as members during monthly calls/meetings.

WORKGROUPS

Work groups determine what strategies and tactics they will implement to help advance the collaborative’s goals. Work groups will make the decisions needed to advance their general work. If there’s a decision that would impact the overall goals and strategies of the collective, or the work of other work groups, then they should bring a proposal to the Core Team before moving forward.
