  • This award is established by the family of Payton May, a 2020 graduate who transferred to Skyview in 2017 as a sophomore and went on to achieve success in personal, scholastic and community endeavors.  To show their gratitude to the Storm community for its role in helping her make a successful transition to Skyview, Payton and her family collaborated with The Storm Nation Foundation to create this award.

    The Storm Nation Foundation will award a $4,000 scholarship grant to a member of the 2026 senior class who has shown outstanding leadership ability in school clubs, activities and/or athletics while continually demonstrating a willingness to serve others.

    This student will have demonstrated leadership while modeling characteristics consistent with the Storm culture. These characteristics include: Integrity - Communication - Self-awareness - Gratitude - Empathy - Respect.

  • The application process is as follows:

    Interested seniors should write a short, narrative essay describing their Skyview experience. The essay must address the following qualifications with an overall emphasis on how Skyview impacted you in a positive manner.

    • Leadership in school clubs, activities and/or athletics and demonstrating characteristics consistent with the Skyview Storm culture: Integrity, Communication, Self-awareness, Gratitude, Empathy, Respect.
    • Highlight overall achievements at Skyview summarizing course completion, GPA, awards, recognitions, clubs, athletics, etc.
    • Service to others whether at Skyview or in the community
    • Share your long-term academic and career goals, and how this scholarship will help you achieve them.
    • Explain how the Skyview staff, coursework, and/or environment supported you in building these leadership and service qualities and developing your college/career goals.

    In addition to the essay, applicants will also need to submit:

    • Copy of transcripts
    • Letter of recommendation/support from a Skyview teacher or staff member
    • Letter of support from a classmate or person outside of school (not a parent or relative)

    Application deadline is May 1, 2026.

    IMPORTANT: Application guidelines:
    Your submission should be typed, double-spaced, in 12 pt Sans Serif font. There is no word/page minimum or maximum. Use the space necessary to provide a clear and concise narrative for your situation.

    FINALLY: All submissions MUST be .pdf documents. No other formats will be accepted for your submission. Those submissions will be DISQUALIFIED. (Format does not apply to transcripts). If you are having trouble, please email us at skyview@stormscholarships.org for help.
