Burdekin Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Hub
selectability is a not-for-profit community managed mental health organisation. Our purpose is to improve the mental wellbeing of regional Queenslanders and contribute to suicide prevention.
Research shows that at least 1 in 2 regional Queenslanders will experience a mental illness at some point in their lives ... tragically for some their lives end in suicide.
We are committed to working with communities to improve access to vital mental wellbeing and suicide prevention programs and support.
As part of this, we recently purchased the unused Caledonian Hall and subsequently secured more than $800K from the Queensland Government to transform it into the Burdekin Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Hub.
Over the coming months we will be working with the Burdekin community to ensure that the Hub service offerings are tailored to the diverse needs of people across the region. Similarly, we will be consulting with other service providers across the Burdekin to endeavour to ensure that services are leveraged, not duplicated.
We already provide similar services to the communities of Cairns, Townsville, Ingham, Palm Island, Charters Towers, Mount Isa, Mackay and Rockhampton and we are about to expand into Bowen and Longreach. You can find out more about selectability HERE
