• For defence against COVID 19, Healthy Building strategies should be part of a comprehensive package of prevention and control measures, including other strategies such as screening, hand washing/sanitising, masks, and social distancing. The overall risk in an area will also depend on factors such as types of activities undertaken and occupant density and duration in each area.

This assessment is focused on the Healthy Building strategies and your responses should relate to your indoor assets across your whole site. You may identify that specific buildings or rooms have unique characteristics, and these can also be highlighted in the final comments section

Please complete the following questions to the best of your knowledge. Upon completion ERA will review the responses and provide you with confidential feedback on identified risks and recommendations.

  • 1. If returning from lockdown and considerable downtime, do you have clear plans developed to re-instate all facilities to ensure safe, compliant and reliable operation, including checks and appropriate maintenance on cooling towers, ventilation systems, electrical safety checks, water quality, fire and emergency systems*
  • 2. Ventilation is the process of supplying outdoor air to and removing indoor air from a space, potentially accompanied by temperature and humidity control. It has become clear that it is key in helping to achieve Healthy Buildings and avoid COVID-19 super spreading events. What form of ventilation do you have in your buildings?*
  • 3. Do you have any fully-enclosed rooms (including walk-in cupboards) with no clear ventilation?*
  • 4. Do you have effective systems to maintain room temperatures between 21-24 degrees C and relative humidity at 40-60%?*
  • 5. Do you know the type and grade of filters in your mechanical ventilation systems?*
  • 6. Do all your mechanical ventilation systems have the ability to run different levels of fresh air feed?*
  • 7. Do you have any rooms that have only Split System air conditioning or non-ducted heating units, and no other forms of mechanical ventilation?*
  • 8. Do you  have any rooms with wall, ceiling, or pedestal-mounted fans?*
  • 9. Considering all rooms throughout the site, what is the minimum number of air changes per hour from the ventilation system
  • 10.  Are your ventilation systems manually switched on, or controlled by automated systems?*
  • 11. In the last 18 months has your site undertaken an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessment, including measurement of CO2 levels in occupied areas*
