  • Mooring Lines recommendations at AP

under 30 feet use 1/2" line
30 feet to 40 feet use 5/8" line
40 feet to 70 feet use 3/4" line
70 feet to 90 feet use 7/8" line
90 feet to 110 feet use 1" line

As a general rule, the length of bow and stern lines should equal two-thirds of your boat's overall length. Spring lines should be slightly longer, approximately the same length as your boat.  Unless your boat is unusually heavy or will be subjected to severe conditions, a bow line, stern line, and two spring lines are recommended. If your permanent slip has outboard pilings as well, you will need an additional bow and stern line.

  • Important consideration in determining whether you will Shelter In Place!

If you indicate that you will shelter in place, you have the option to evacuate. But if you indicate you will NOT shelter in place, you will be  required to evacuate in a code Orange.  You cannot change from evacuate to shelter in place after June 1st.

  • SHELTER IN PLACE

  • If you elect update your mooring line configuration, you must fill out a completely new configuration.  You can copy from the read only configuration above if you wish.

  • If you are filling this out with a pen on a paper form, you MUST include a sketch of you mooring plan or describe in detail what your mooring plan is in the "Describe what additional actions" section below.  Use additional pages as needed.

A forward spring line is tied to the dock forward of where it is tied to the boat; it stops the boat from moving aft. An aft spring line stops the boat from moving forward, and it's tied to a point on the dock aft of where the line is attached to the boat.

  • Optionally you can upload a sketch (file) of your mooring plan for sheltering in place during a storm.  Click Select File to upload. the image will appear for preview and then you click the upload button to save.
