    Defying the Odds Essay Scholarship
    Inspired by the book Defying the Odds, graduating seniors are invited to reflect on the challenges they have faced and how they persevered to reach this important milestone.


    In life, everyone faces obstacles. Some challenges may seem overwhelming, yet many individuals find the strength, determination, and resilience to overcome them.

    Write a 500 word essay describing a time in your life when you had to persevere or “defy the odds.”

    In your essay, be sure to address:

    • What obstacle or challenge did you face?
    • Why was this challenge difficult for you?
    • What actions did you take to overcome the challenge?
    • Who or what helped motivate you to keep going?
    • What did you learn about yourself through this experience?
    • How will this experience influence your future goals?
