VF YAB Main Objectives

This board is a space for young people:

To expand their leadership and professional skills

To build a strong understanding of systems of oppression as they affect Newark and their respective subcommunities

To gain an understanding of the field of philanthropy

To advise the foundation on its work

QUALIFICATIONS

At a minimum, the ideal candidate should have the following qualities:

A freshman or sophomore in a Newark high school or homeschool

Reside in Newark, New Jersey

Willingness to listen, learn, and question

Passionate about community work

Problem solving and critical thinking skills

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

SELECTION PROCESS

A limited number of candidates will be selected for interviews.

These candidates will be contacted before November 15th using the phone and email information submitted on their application form.

Candidates who are interviewed will be notified of final decisions in December 2021.
