    These proposal guidelines are for the End Violence’s Safe Online initiative Open Call “Technology Solutions & Research for Tackling Challenges in the Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSEA): Age Assurance & Livestreaming of Abuse,’’ focused on solutions that leverage technology to address age assurance and tackle livestreaming of abuse. The geographical target for this Call is Global.

    We are looking for solutions that seek to address one of the following focus areas:

    1. Addressing age assurance in the online CSEA landscape
    2. Tackling livestreaming of online CSEA

    Additionally, your project focus must seek to identify one of the following modalities:

    1. Technology solution - Design of a proof of concept, development of new prototypes or products, or adaptation / combination of existing technology tools to address age assurance or livestreaming of abuse
    2. Research - Exploratory or actionable social / policy research to facilitate or strengthen the use, adaptation or scale-up of tech solutions in addressing age assurance or livestreaming of abuse

    The online application serves to collect all available information required for the proposal to be considered for funding under the Open Call “Technology Solutions & Research for Tackling Challenges in the Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSEA): Age Assurance & Livestreaming of Abuse.’’ Submitting this application in no way guarantees award of a grant. All submissions must be made in English, and will be reviewed by technical experts at End Violence as well as external experts, as applicable. Please note that your organisation may be invited to do a demonstration of your technology or provide more details before funding decisions are final.

However, the final submission must be made on this online portal. 

    Any links you provide that are not specifically requested as evidence of meeting a required criteria will be regarded as supporting documents and may not be studied in detail. End Violence may review external links and record the content of those links with day and hour stamp upon submission. It also reserves the right not to consider any changes made to the content of these links after the submission date of the full proposal.

    Please submit your Application Form along with any attachments and supporting documents by Wednesday, 29 March 2023 at 11:59 PM EST. Please be mindful of word limits in responses and page limits for supplementary documents as materials included beyond these limits may not be considered.

  • Eligibility criteria

    End Violence's Safe Online initiative is seeking submissions of proposals from nonprofit organisations, such as civil society organisations (CSOs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), international organisations, research institutes and academic institutions. For-profit organisations are also be eligible to apply. Consortia of organizations with different strengths and expertise are highly encouraged. Only entities that fulfill these mandatory requirements will be considered eligible:

    • Your organisation is a legally registered entity within the country or countries of implementation. In addition to this, letters of support from local authorities and organisations will also be required.
    • Your organisation is able to provide previous auditing records
    • Your organisation is able to provide one reference from a previous donor or partner
    • The proposed project aligns with at least one of the 4 main objectives set in this Call
    • Funds must not be for an organisation's core funding, cost of infrastructure, general awareness campaigns, stand-alone research and data collection, activities where a substantial part of the budget is allocates for travel or conferences.
    • Your organisation has a safeguarding policy in place (including data privacy) or is willing to develop a policy1. Budget for safeguarding activities up to 5% of the total direct costs.
    • The proposed solution responds to a clear need/gap, does not duplicate existing tools, and/or builds upon and/or interacts with existing solutions.
    • At minimum, an existing prototype of the solution with promising results from initial pilots.

    1 End Violence is committed to supporting organisations to improve their safeguarding capacity and practice. The primary applicant is responsible for all issues that may arise with partners or contractors in regards to safeguarding. End Violence’s Safeguarding Policy is available for all applicants to consult here on our website.

     

  • Eligibility

  • The Safe Online initiative has a clear preference for proposals that can demonstrate:
    • Active involvement of local partners and authorities in the design and delivery of activities including strengthening of local capacity through the project;
    • A cross-sectorial and holistic approach including the interlinkages between online violence and other forms of abuse against children;
    • Strategic partnerships with the Safe Online grantees and partners across levels;
    • Alignment with other End Violence Partnership initiatives such as Pathfinding Countries and Safe to Learn; and,
    • Availability to match the funding, and a strong evaluation and impact assessment component.
