NCUIH is recruiting American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) students enrolled in a college or University in the 2021 fall semester and/or 2022 spring semester to become UIO IPC Systems Fellows supporting Urban Indian Organizations (UIOs) who have been selected as Champions for Project Firstline.  This fellowship is intended to offer hands on experience in building capacity and providing technical assistance in Urban Native Public Health with the emphasis on infection prevention control training within the scope of Project Firstline https://www.cdc.gov/infectioncontrol/projectfirstline/index.html.

  • Note: Students are required to coordinate internship or practicum credit with their intended University. NCUIH staff will assist as needed and requested at the direction of student fellows, but all responsibility for deadlines and requirements are to be managed by the student.

    1)      How many NCUIH Project Firstline Fellows will there be?

    There will be two (2) fellows selected. Funding will vary depending upon the preferred duration identified by each fellow identified in their application.

    2)     I am not a public health student; can I still apply?

    Yes, students from any field are welcome to apply (nursing, medicine, behavioral health, etc.) as long as the student’s work relates back to the areas of one of the following, infection prevention and control, mental health, behavioral health, health communication, improving health processes, improving health quality, or a related area.

    3)     My application is late, can I still apply?

    Yes - the deadline was modified to "Rolling" which is ongoing during the grant year; applications, including letters of recommendation must be submitted with your application; unless there are extenuating circumstances, please contact IPC@NCUIH.org to set up a meeting to discuss. 

    4)    When will I know if I am a finalist and when will my interview occur?

    Finalists will be selected prior to April 1st, and will participate in an interview with NCUIH staff. 

    5)    Will interviews be in person or online?

    All interviews will be online through Zoom unless there are specific challenging circumstances and a different platform is requested.
