• NASPA Foundation Professional Development Access Scholarship

     

    The NASPA Foundation, in partnership with NASPA, is excited to share this scholarship opportunity designed to keep NASPA members connected to the field and the Association. Donor gifts have allowed for scholarships to directly support conference registrations and on-site housing for select NASPA events.

    The scholarships will fund a conference registration and lodging for the conference in a standard room for the events listed below. Scholarships do not cover preconferences and standalone events. 

    Applicants must apply by the deadline associated with their selected event and are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications will be reviewed the week of the application deadline and applicants will be notified the week after. 

    Applicants may only receive a scholarship one (1) time for this cycle. This scholarship is not transferable to other events and the scholarship package of registration and lodging cannot be exchanged for cash. Please note that the availability of funds may change and applicants will be notified of any changes that may affect their application.

    In the event that the scholarship recipient is unable to attend the event, the recipient will forfeit the scholarship and will have to re-apply for another opportunity to be considered. 

    All applicants will be required to answer the following questions in either written or video submission:

    • How will receiving this scholarship be helpful for you?
    • What does it mean to be a NASPA member?

     *Scholarship recipients will also be asked to provide feedback on their experience post-event. 

     

     

    Please note that NASPA reserves the right to update application criteria based on funding for this program and registration availability. Some programs listed may be removed if the registration is full.

    Eligibility:

    • Applicant must be a current NASPA member to apply  and be a current NASPA member at the start of the event the scholarship is awarded for.
    • Scholarships are open to any NASPA member in need with preference given to individuals recently furloughed, partially furloughed, laid-off, and or recently graduated without employment.
    • Applicant must demonstrate financial need as it pertains to travel and attendance of professional events.

  • If you would like to be considered for multiple events, you must submit separate applications for each event. You can only receive one professional development scholarship between December 1, 2021, and July 31, 2022.

  • The following sections are required questions for all applicants.  You may select to submit your answers in writing or in video form.

    Written submissions should be a minimum of 150 words with a maximum of 250 words.
     

    Video submissions be a minimum of 90 seconds, with a maximum time of 2 minutes. Submissions can be uploaded or a link can be shared to view your video.

    We would like to learn about your reasoning for applying for a professional development access scholarship. If you have recently encountered a hardship, please share in your response. The intention of these funds is to support those who are unable to cover the cost associated with registration dues. Those who have been recently laid off, furloughed, or recently graduated and unemployed will receive preference.

    If awarded a scholarship, we would like to request that you share how the NASPA Foundation Professional Development Scholarship and the opportunity to attend the event have had an impact on your professional growth. This information may be shared with the NASPA Foundation Board of Directors, NASPA Board of Directors, NASPA Staff, and for marketing and communications purposes.  Your submission may remain anonymous.
