    Financial Assistance - Making the Impossible Possible
  • General Guidelines - High School Seniors ONLY

  • FAMIP (Financial Assistance – Making the Impossible Possible) seeks to provide scholarship to deserving immigrant students or of immigrant parents entering college for the first time.

    FAMIP scholars must show need of financial assistance and are academically on track to graduate.  They must be an active member in their community and have demonstrated support through volunteering and are eager to becoming a productive citizen of this world.

    Guidelines:

    • Applicants must plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college in the fall of the awarded year.
    • Must be an immigrant student or of immigrant parents.
    • Seeking graduating seniors with a record of volunteerism in their community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities.
    • Finalists will be invited for an interview (in person)
    • Award recipients MUST commit to 50 hours of service to MIPO, Inc. within one year* of receiving their scholarship.
    • Scholarship payment will be made in the fall of 2023 directly to the student or the designated school. It is the student’s responsibility to submit to the organization at that time, for first semester, book fees, student ID number, registration and college information.  List of required documents will be sent to awardee. If student DOES NOT submit ALL documents, their award will be denied.
    • PRESENTATION OF THE AWARD WILL BE DONE AT OUR ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP, FUNDRAISING, & SCHOLARSHIP AWARD GALA ON MAY 28, 2023.  AWARDEE MUST BE PRESENT TO ACCEPT THE SCHOLARSHIP.
    • Please note, YOUR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WILL BE REVOKED if found in contempt of fraud.

    Upon completion of the application, ensure that all parts are completed correctly.
    • Completed application form
    • Personal essay – at most 2 pages, single-spaced, 12-point type.

          1.  Describing the challenges you have faced or are facing and how you have or

               are persevering to reach your goals.

          2.  Who or what has had the most influence in your life and why?

          3.  Describe your career plans, expectations and future goals.

    • Copy of most recent official transcript
    • Updated resume
    • Two letters of recommendation (one letter must be an academic reference and the second letter must be either a personal or community involvement reference)
    • Proof of volunteer hours
    • I have submitted a photograph to be used if I am selected as a scholarship winner: Yes/No

    All requested documents on the checklist must be attached/uploaded to this application.

    This application should be postmarked no later than April 15, 2023 11:59 pm.  Late applications are not accepted.

    I hereby understand that if chosen as a scholarship winner, according to MIPO’s Scholarship policy, I must be present at any potential awards ceremony, reception or annual May gala to formally receive my scholarship* award.

    I hereby understand I will not submit this application without all required attachments and supporting information. Incomplete applications or applications that do not meet eligibility criteria will not be considered for this scholarship.

    I hereby understand that if chosen as a scholarship winner and at a later time I am found in contempt of fraud, MY SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WILL BE REVOKED.
