The following awards are for students who have been accepted to Lutheran High for their freshman year of high school. Please be aware that each applicant's first semester Math, English, Science, and Social Studies grades for the current school year will be requested from our Student Services office as part of the qualification for these awards. Families do not need to provide these grades.
This completed form must be received by April 14, 2025 in order to be reviewed by the selection committee for each award.

There are five awards included in this application form. All applicants must:
* Be involved in extracurricular activities
* Have demonstrated leadership potential
* Been accepted to Lutheran High prior to April 10, 2025.
Descriptions of these awards are listed below. Students may apply for more than one award if they meet the criteria provided. Recipients will be notified at the conclusion of the evaluation process no later than June 30.
LHS Community Leadership Award: - Lutheran High School seeks opportunities to recognize and reward students who exemplify “The Cougar Way” through their leadership and actions in the classrooms and in the general community. To that end, up to five LHS Community Leadership Awards of $500 each will be awarded each year to the top incoming freshmen who are not members of our Association Congregations. This $500 tuition award will be awarded each year of high school provided that the student maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and remains in good standing at LHS.
Derek Griffitts Memorial Award: - The Derek Griffitts Memorial Award is established and funded by The Derek Griffitts Foundation in loving memory of Derek Griffitts, LHS Class of 2016. Their commitment speaks to the impact LHS had on their son. Derek loved Lutheran High School - he loved his classmates, athletics, his coaches, his teachers, and his classes. He loved the feeling of "family." Derek’s parents, Harry and Denise Griffitts, want to share these opportunities with other young people. This $1,000 nonrenewable tuition award is for one year only.
Justice Simmonds Memorial Award: The Justice Simmonds Memorial Award Fund was established in memory of Justice Simmonds, LHS Class of 2020. Justice loved Robotics and was an active member of the LHS Roboteers. He was dearly loved by his classmates and friends. This $1,000 nonrenewable tuition award is for one year only. To be considered for this award the student must meet the following criteria: * Must be an active and willing participant in Robotics activities at Lutheran High School * Must be a good student and in good standing in the LHS community * Demonstrate a need for assistance for tuition-related expenses at LHS.
Coach V Memorial Award: The Dave “Coach V” Viviano Memorial Award was established by Pat Viviano and her children in loving memory of their husband and father, Dave. Coach V spent 40+ years as a basketball coach at Lutheran High School, Immanuel, St. Charles, and Grace Chapel. This $500 nonrenewable tuition award is for one year only. To be considered for this award the student must meet the following criteria: *Must be a female student in good standing at her middle school.
Richard E. Weinhold Memorial Award: The Richard E. Weinhold Memorial Award was established in loving memory of Richard E. Weinhold by his children and wife. Richard was a father, husband, boy scout leader, coach, trumpet player at church, and advocate for rescued animals. He dedicated his life to service when he became a police officer in order to help others. His dream was to send his children to Lutheran High School. That dream was realized when all four children graduated from Lutheran High School after his death. This $1,000 nonrenewable tuition award is for one year only. To be considered for this award the student must meet the following criteria: * Must be an active and willing participant in voluntary and extra-curricular activities. *Must be a good student and in good standing. * Exemplify leadership with high morals and integrity along with respect and compassion for others. *Must have a member of their family in law enforcement or considering a career in law enforcement. *Show a need for assistance for tuition-related expenses at LHS. Note – Special consideration will be given to those who are/were involved in a fraternal community service organization or actively involved in service to the St. Charles/St. Louis community.
