Donation Assistant & Driver

 

 

FUNCTION

To assist in transportation and retrieval of donations for the organization. Picks up housewares, furniture, and clothing donations from homes, businesses, and other locations in the community.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides exemplary customer service, helping to create the positive experience that attracts both repeat and new donors.

2. Assists Donation Coordinator in safely loading, unloading and transportation of donations, merchandise, and equipment.

3. Handles all donations with attention and care, securing them properly in carts/gaylords and in trucks.

4.Responsible for sorting all inbound donations by quality/category.

5. Must be able to safely operate an automatic transmission box truck and forklift/tow motor daily. Training provided. Responsible for driving to and from each donation pickup location.

6.May assist the Donation Coordinator with answering in-bound calls/emails/texts/direct messages and scheduling of donation pickups.

7. Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., frequently lift up to 100 lbs. and occasionally lift over 100 lbs.

8.Communicates effectively with Donation Coordinator, Warehouse & Transportation Manager, and other Goodwill team members.

9.Must be able to stoop, tug, squat, twist, and bend.

10. Assists Donation Coordinator in morning safety inspections and helps to maintain a safe and clean truck.

11. Must report any safety or maintenance issues to the Donation Coordinator and/or Warehouse & Transportation Manager.

12. May assist Retail Store donation centers when needed with donation collection, sorting and/or processing.

13. May assist Warehouse team with baling, sorting, and other activities as needed.

14. Must perform duties in a timely and safe and timely manner.

15. Must be able to do day & night driving in all types of weather.

16. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled. May need to work overtime.

17. Must be cooperative, friendly, and well-groomed at all times. Must always properly wear safety gear and uniforms.

18. Performs other duties as assigned by Donation Coordinator, Warehouse & Transportation Manager, and VP of Donated Goods and Marketing.

POSITION REQUIREMENT

High School Diploma or GED 

Preferred experience in a customer service and driving box trucks and/or moving.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, etc

License Check - valid driver's license and proof of insurability

Background Checks - The offer of employment will be based on the outcome of the back ground check.

Drug and Alcohol Screen - Must pass a drug and alcohol screen prior to employment. Subject to random testing.
