Company Policy
Driver experience:
1. Driver must have minimum 3 years tractor/trailer experience.
2. Driver must have minimum 1 year dry van/reefer experience in the last 3 years.
3. Driver must have minimum 6 month experience with ELD (not AOBRD) in the last 3 years.
4. Driver must have minimum 6 months over the road tractor/trailer experience in the last 3 years.
5. Driver must have any experience working as independent contractor (1099 form).
Driver operation:
6. Driving has to be 10-11 hours per working day when possible.
7. Sleeper berth/off duty has to be as close to 10hrs when possible.
8. Reset has to be as close to 34 hours when possible.
9. Driving has to be completed in the hours 5:00am-12am when possible. No shifting to night time driving.
10. Over the road time: Midwest/Central 1-2 weeks out (remote areas 2-3 weeks out). East/SouthEast/South 2 weeks out. West - 2-4 weeks out. North Florida - 3 weeks out. Central/South Florida - seasonal only (March). We don't go to California.
11. Home time: for every week out 1 day +1 MAX. Example: 2 weeks out - 3 days home Max, 4 weeks out - 5 days home Max. Federal holiday extra day off. 5 days maximum at a time.
12. “Vacation” time is addition to home time (truck is reserved for driver and can be parked at drivers location) For every working 1 month driver gets 1 day of vacation. 10 days Maximum at a time. Example: After 6 month working with a company you get 6 days vacation time + if you just finished 3 weeks out that is another 4 days. Total is 10 days.
Paperwork:
13. Proof of deliveries must be emailed the same day you delivered.
14. Every 14 days driver must deliver all paperwork to the office. You will be provided with prepaid USPS envelopes.
15. At the end of the week email all your receipts and trip report. This is required in order to receive a statement.
Statement:
16. Detention is paid after 2 hours when arrived for fcfs facility or 2 hours after the set appointment time. Detention pay is 20$/hr, 150$ maximum per day.
17. You get paid on all miles empty and loaded by PCMiller zip code to zip code.
18. Extra stops are 50$/stop. Labor is 50$/hr rate (usually this could be tailgating, or restacking). Driver labor is only with driver approval.
19. Statements going out on Thursdays. It is a direct deposit into your bank account.
20. Statement period is Monday to Monday.
Fuel card:
21. Cash advance available 200$/week with fuel purchase only.
22. Comchecks are available 24/7.
23. Fuel card purchases allowed with fuel only.
24. Fuel card is Comdata and is allowed to use at any truck stop.
Operation:
25. This is independent contractor 1099 position. It pays better then W2 but has more responsibilities and less protection.
26. 2 weeks notice required for the first 3 month. After 3 month 1 week notice is required.
27. Truck must be returned to the same or nearby company terminal where it got picked up. Also must be returned in the same condition and with all company equipment.
28. Driver is responsible for finding parking on the road or at home. Assistance will be provided when requested.
Maintenance:
29. Truck/trailer wash company allowance 2 per month maximum. Minimum 1 wash/month is required when possible.
30. When safe and no skills require small repair effort is required. Example: change fuse, replace sticker, remotely troubleshoot issue with assistance etc.
31. Truck must be clean inside at all times.
32. Trailer must be swept and clean inside and be always in food grade condition
33. All repairs must be done in a timely manner when dispatched.
34. Normal repairs downtime will not be compensated. Downtime will be compensated as detention on excessive repairs only.
35. Hotel will be provided for overnight repairs only.
36. When possible it is very critical to inform the fleet manager of repairs that are coming up soon. Example: when tires are a few days out from being illegal must notify in advance.
37. Must inspect the trailer every time after you got empty or loaded. Do not take off with load that can not be inspected!
Charges:
38. Escrow account is 500$-1500$ will be determined on your application. Minimum 250$ weekly settlements required. After a few months working with a company escrow account can be reviewed and reduced (500$ minimum required).
39. Mandatory independent contractor occupational insurance - 40$/week.
40. Insurance deductible is 2000$ for any at fault damages. (This is a 1099 position, its standard business practice.)
41. If you choose to go extra miles the cost is 1$/mile.
42. There are List of scheduled Charges for safety violations.
Safety:
43. Logbook provider is Samsara ELD. It has application that you will use on company tablet.
44. Personal conveyance allowed upon request.
45. Driver experience we consider as knowledge of all DOT regulations.
46. All traffic stops/ accidents must be informed immediately!
47. Zero tolerance to moving violations and critical violations!
48. When you are aware of any kind of violation you can not drive on any public road for any time (not even 1 second).
49. You will receive calls from safety if we think you are in violation or we need to check on a driver. Must cooperate with safety instructions.
50. Do not load anything that can damage or spill in the trailer and anything that can not be properly secured. If unsure Please contact Dispatch.
51. Must send pictures of fully loaded and secured freight in the trailer and BOL to the dispatcher before departing a shipper. The picture must be taken from the top so we can see the whole trailer.
52. Driver must receive safety training to haul not palletized freight and have all necessary equipment for load securement (straps, load bars and wood).
53. Be always polite and friendly with traffic enforcement officers even if the officer is wrong.
54. Driver must notify company if he contact DMV for any reason.
55. Driver must notify company if he lost the acces to the mailing address from CDL.
Dispatch:
56. Always text to dispatcher check in and out times at shippers/receivers within 10 min of occurrence.
57. Always follow dispatchers directions when provided. We always try to find the most efficient routes. Driver can adjust directions with a dispatcher.
