• Dixie National Rodeo Flag Girl Competition Application

    (Ages 17-23) Fill out the application completely and submit all requirements by October 31, 2025, to be entered in the 2026 DNR Flag Girl Competition.
  • By participating in the 2026 Dixie National Flag Girl competition, entrants accept and agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the selection committee, which are final and binding in all respects and not subject to change. 

    Applicants accept and agree to abide by the decision of the judges and understand that Commissioner Andy Gipson, the Mississippi Department of Agriculture, the Dixie National Rodeo, Harper and Morgan Rodeo Company, the Tri-State Rodeo Association nor it's board members, Dr. DeShannon Davis and Allison Coulton, nor the Mississippi State Fairgrounds, play a part in the selection of the Dixie National Flag girls and cannot be held liable for accidents or disagreement with the outcome. Grievances are not accepted. The judges make the final decision in this competition. 

    Participants ride at their own risk. No entity associated with the Dixie National Flag Girl competition, Dixie National Rodeo, the Tri-State Rodeo Association, or any indiviudal associated with any of these entites, can be held liable for any accident that may occur. Should an accident occur, participants agree to cover any and all medical expenses associated with injuries that may occur during tryouts, rodeo performances, or the parade. This competition is a ride-at-your-own-risk event.

    Flag girls may have to provide a horse at the 2026 Dixie National Rodeo and Parade, provide transportation to and from the rodeo, cover meals, as well as secure lodging if they do not live in the Jackson metro area.

    • Must be 17-23 years of age, on January 1, 2026.
    • Must be born a female and identify as a female.
    • Must have proven horsemanship skills and abilities.
    • A preferred resident of Mississippi. Special consideration to tryout will be given to those living out-of-state if they display remarkable horsemanship skills and abilities.
    • Flag girls must commit to attending all performances and the parade of the 2026 Dixie National Rodeo AND the 2025 Tri-State Rodeo Association Finals, unless prior consent to miss a performance is approved.
    • Flag girls must be willing to wear make-up and fix/curl hair for each rodeo performance.
    • Flag girls must be upstanding, moral, and ethical young women, who display a love for rodeo, our State, and others.
    • Flag girls must be willing to listen, take constructive criticism, and perform to the best of their abilities.
    • Flag girls must be strong and knowledgeable when it comes to saddling, watering, feeding, mucking stalls, and bathing and leading horses.
    • Flag girls must not be late for or miss rodeo performances.

    Round 1 of the competition:

    All application requirements are to be completed by October 31, 2025. 

    • Application, head shot, and entry fee MUST be received by October 31, 2025.
    • Entry Fee - $40.00 - Paypal to @dnrflags (Must be received by October 31, 2025) If you do not have a Paypal account, email dixienationalflags@gmail.com for alternate payment method.
    • Head Shot emailed to dixienationalflags@gmail.com (Must be received by October 31, 2025). The photo must be of you wearing a cowboy hat, and from the shoulders up.

    Contestants will be notified by November 5, 2025, if they have been selected to try out for a position on the 2026 team. Details concerning tryouts will be emailed once the selection announcement is made.

    Tryouts will be November 20-22, 2025, at the Kirk Fordice Equine Center, Mississippi State Fairgrounds - Jackson, Mississippi, during the 2025 Tri-State Rodeo Association Finals. Contestants MUST provide their own horse, transportation, meals, and lodging for this competition. Contestants must attend practice and two rodeo performances in order to be considered. High School and college rodeo contestants, who are participating in a H.S./College rodeo the same weekend as the Tri-State finals, may obtain permission to miss Friday's night TSRA performance, but must notify Allison or DeShannon prior to November 5, 2025. All other request to miss a performance must be pre-approved.
