Janis Mars Wunderlich’s evocative, somewhat surrealistic imagery captures the dualities and complexities of being human and is inspired by historical ceramic figurines and her Cherokee storyteller-folk artist grandfather. She is currently an assistant professor of art at Monmouth College in IL.
Wunderlich has exhibited nationally and internationally for over two decades, including recent exhibitions at Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, Quad City International Airport Art Gallery, Canton Museum of Art, American Museum of Ceramic Art, and Fuller Craft Museum. She was awarded an individual artist fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council in 2020.
If you plan to visit the Giertz Gallery at Parkland College, please note our new hours and policy changes. The gallery hours are Mon - Wed 10am-5pm, Thur 10am-7pm, Sat 12-2pm. Giertz Gallery will be closed November 24 (5pm) - 28; December 18 - January 19, and Jan 18. The Ceramics Biennial will be on exhibit October 25, 2021 - February 5, 2022.

Parkland College has limited the number of ways to enter the building and has greeters stationed at designated doors. While you may entrer through any of the designated doors, we suggest using te M1 parking lot on the north corner of campus and entering door M1. Follow the signs to the gallery, located on the north side of the X wing.
No RSVP is necessary to visit the gallery during normal business hours, except for our special events. Masks must be worn on the Parkland College campus.
