  • LA VOICE

Houselessness, Affordable Housing, Financial Insecurity, Immigration

LA Voice is a multi-racial, multi-faith community organization that awakens people to their own power, training them to speak, act, and work together to transform our County into one that reflects the dignity of all people. Nefesh is a member congregation in LA Voice. Together we connect people of multiple faiths in solidarity with immigrant communities to advocate for the rights of immigrants to be treated as full citizens of our county. This includes:

Rapid Response Network: Our network of volunteers from across the county assists families under threat of deportation while simultaneously working to pass legislation that will protect our communities and keep ICE out of our county.

Increasing access to benefits: Our organizing has helped win benefits like drivers’ licenses and healthcare access for undocumented communities, and we then hold educational workshops to ensure families have the information and assistance they need to access those benefits.

Commitment: Volunteers will help pass Propositon 50 to protect voter's rights in Los Angeles, host house meetings, participate in legislation and organizing for Just and Equitable Rebilding of Altadena, Fire Recovery, and more

  • CLUE - Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice

Labor Organizing, Immigration Solidarity, Rapid Response Network, Worker's Rights, Sacred Resistance

CLUE brings together clergy and lay leaders of all faiths with the marginalized, the unheard, and the least protected—low-wage workers and immigrants—in the cause of a just economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.

Commitment: Volunteers can help our interfaith partners in protecting their immigrant members and staff, protective presence around ICE raids, Weekly vigils with the Godmothers of the Disappeared, attend rallies and council meetings for fair wages with the upcoming Olympics, and more.

  • LAUNDRY LOVE

Mutual Aid and community with our interfaith partners

Commitment: Every third Wednesday of the month, from 5:30-9pm. Come whenever you are able!

  • JEWS FOR FOOD AID FOR PEOPLE IN GAZA

Support humanitarian aid in Gaza and impacted families.

As part of the national call from Jews for Food Aid for People in Gaza, Nefesh has created a working group to support humanitarian aid efforts by raising much-needed funds for the Gaza Soup Kitchen, and calling for an end to the blockade of life-saving aid into Gaza. This group draws a critical bridge between the Tikkun Collective's aim to intentionally and thoughtfully participate in repairing the world to the need to repair and rebuild life in Gaza.

Commitment: Join a Nefesh-led pod to connect with other kin doing this work, stay in communication and support of one another while working to raise funds for the Gaza Soup Kitchen, or become an organizer with the collective.  In-person and zoom meetings occur regularly.

  • DAYENU CIRCLE

    Climate Crisis

Nefesh has been involved in climate activism with Dayenu since they started in 2020 with the mission to build a multi-generational Jewish movement that confronts the climate crisis with spiritual audacity and bold political action. And we are now an official Dayenu Circle! We are looking for volunteers that are activated around fighting the climate crisis to gather our community to action on key campaigns that Dayenu is working on, from rallying Jewish support for important CA climate bills, to divestment campaigns looking at how our own investments can help end the era of fossil fuels.  Dayenu is mobilizing Jewish support for climate solutions, building our collective power with national and global movements, and raising up spiritual, religious, and moral voice.

Commitment: Monthly check-ins with Nefesh team on Dayenu campaigns. As-needed letter writing, phone banking, Dayenu events.
