DETAILED AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE BEST RESULTS, YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
KEEP IN MIND THAT THE COLOR WILL SOFTEN 20-50%. SOME AREAS MAY HEAL LIGHTER THAN OTHERS. THIS IS A NORMAL PART OF THE HEALING PROCESS & WILL BE TREATED AT THE FOLLOW UP.
NO touching, picking, peeling, or licking (lips) the procedure site. NO water, products/makeup on the procedure area. NO sweating, and please stay out of the sun/heat. NO pools/lakes/ocean water and NO stomach/side sleeping.
5-6 hours after procedure:
Gently cleanse the tattoo with diluted baby shampoo. Rinse with cool water and blot dry with a clean towel. Wait at least 10 minutes for the skin to be completely dry. With a rice grain amount of ointment, emulsify it between two fingertips and apply a thin veil gently across. The ointment should be absorbed after 10 minutes. If not, blot the excess with a tissue.
Cleanse again before bed if your appointment was in the morning. Do not shower today.
Until the Procedure is Fully Healed: (Average 5-7 Days)
Cleanse 2x/day (3x/day for oily skin), same protocol as above. Brows- You can apply ointment once midday if it feels dry/itchy. The ointment should be absorbed after 10 minutes. If not, blot the excess with a Kleenex.
Lips- Apply ointment as needed as long as it's a very thin veil. Blot excess with a Kleenex.
You should have little to no scabbing. If you have thick, chunky scabs, you may be applying too much ointment or getting them wet/moist in the shower. Expect slightly lighter results and we will take care of it at your follow up. After the scabs flake off, the color may look light/ashy and your skin may be flaky. Continue applying ointment until the flaking subsides. Wait 2 weeks for the skin to fully heal before judging the color.
Showering:
Do not get them wet. Keep a towel handy to blot in case water gets on them. Limit the shower to 5 minutes, not too hot, keep the shower and bathroom door open for the steam to vent. Wash your body first and hair last. Do not attempt to "block" the water from your brows by using a shower cap or band-aids.
Eyeliner Details:
Sleep elevated the first night. If needed, you can ice them in the morning for 10-15 min. If your eyes water often, blot the tears asap. Avoid eye drops unless necessary. If tears/eye drops/contact solution gets on your eyeliner, tap cold water on them to rinse then blot dry. You may carefully apply concealer, eye cream, etc. but avoid products on the tattoo (mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow) until healed. Wait 10-14 days until the scabs are gone before applying eyelash extensions. Wait 3 weeks before applying any lash growth serum.
Lip Details:
Sleep elevated the first night. If needed, you can ice them in the morning for 10-15 min. Drink through a straw. Avoid spicy, salty, hot (temperature) and acidic foods until healed. After each meal, rinse with cold water and blot them dry. Use a natural, non-whitening (sensitive if available) toothpaste while healing. After the scab has flaked off, your lips will feel very chapped and look pale/bright. We recommend using a highly moisturizing product as needed. After 2-4 weeks, they will deepen to their intended color.
If you are prone to fever blisters, ask your physician for a prescription for Valtrex and follow the physician's instructions. If you get a fever blister, you may also use Abreva (over-the-counter), blot with wet gauze and apply a moisturizing product like Aquaphor or grapeseed oil as needed. Blot off the excess product and do not overuse the balm/oil.
Long-Term Aftercare:
Fading is inevitable. Follow these tips to significantly slow down the process: Use sunscreen (SPF 30+) daily on your permanent makeup areas to reduce fading. Being in direct sun or using tanning beds will significantly fade your tattoo. If you are outside or in the water, we recommend using baby sunblock in a stick form. Peels, Retin-A, Retinol or any derivatives, any acids (AHA, glycolic, etc), vitamin C, niacinamide, coconut oil, anti-aging or anti-acne products and products that promote "even skin tone" "brightening" "younger appearance" etc. will cause your makeup to fade. Avoid getting the products on the procedure site. Clarisonic and exfoliating products should be kept away from the procedure area.
Lips: For long-lasting and enhanced color, always keep your lips hydrated with balm or gloss and in times of sun exposure, use a balm with SPF. Frequent use of stains will cause your lips to fade prematurely. After it's healed, face makeup on the tattoo will severely soften/change the color. Use a tiny amount of baby oil on a q-tip to remove the makeup and reveal the tattoo color.
Dying your eyebrows/eyelashes will fade the permanent makeup. Instead, try a brow gel to tint the hairs. If your brows are dry, moisturize them with something extremely gentle like baby lotion.
