  • Eligibility Criteria

    The 12-month Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is open to researchers who have earned a doctoral degree and graduate students who will have defended their dissertation by the end of July 2027. Applicants may be citizens of any country.

    The 12-month NEH Postdoctoral Fellowship is open to researchers who have earned a doctoral degree or who have completed all requirements of the doctoral degree, including the defense, by the application deadline (January 15, 2027). Applicants for the NEH fellowship must be United States citizens or foreign nationals who have lived in the United States for the three years immediately preceding the application deadline.

  • American Trust for the British Library (ATBL) Research Fellowship

    This US$2,500 short-term research stipend supports research projects that make use of collections on site in any department in the British Library. (Link opens in a new tab.)

  • Please specify two individuals who have already agreed to write a letter of recommendation on your behalf. These referees should be unaffiliated with the Science History Institute. Immediately upon submission of your application, emails will be sent with instructions on sending the letter to us.
